Nissan has released a new set of photos of the GT-R50 by Italdesign, ahead of its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The company also confirmed that the bespoke Godzilla will go into limited production, carrying an estimated price tag of €900,000, which is about RM4.2 million.
Created to celebrate the 50th anniversaries of both the GT-R and Italdesign, the extensively-redesigned GT-R50 is actually based on the GT-R Nismo, and it’s appropriately covered in gold accents to compliment the Liquid Kinetic Grey paint. As you can see, it’s almost completely new inside and out, replete with slim LED headlights, vertical front cooling intakes and sweeping roof with double-bubble design.
Its sleek profile is achieved by lowering the car by a staggering 54 mm, while the rump is finished with the GT-R’s familiar quad round tail lights and a large adjustable rear wing. Inside, it gets the same gold theme with futuristic race-inspired dashboard, finished with a black Alcantara wrap and carbon-fibre trimmings. The bucket seats are upholstered in black Italian leather.
In the performance department, the GT-R50 draws juice from an uprated 3.8 litre twin-turbo V6 that now produces an estimated 720 PS at 7,100 rpm and 780 Nm of torque from 3,600 to 5,600 rpm. That’s a significant 120 PS and 128 Nm jump over the donor car. This is thanks to larger GT3-spec turbochargers, bigger intercoolers, higher-flow fuel injectors and optimised ignition, intake and exhaust systems.
Nissan hasn’t revealed any key performance figures as yet, but expect a sub-three-second century sprint time. Power is routed through a strengthened, rear-mounted six-speed dual-clutch transmission to the GT-R’s ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive system, equipped with reinforced differentials and driveshafts.
Of course, the chassis has also been tweaked with new Bilstein DampTronic I continuously adjustable damping system, new Brembo disc brakes with red six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers. The 21-inch alloys – uniquely designed for this car – are shod with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres measuring 255/35 R21 up front and 285/30 R21 behind.
The Goodwood debutant will likely be a prototype model, but it’s unclear if it will attempt the iconic hillclimb or just be purely on display. CEO of Italdesign, Joerg Astalosch said “at Italdesign, we have a long history of making our customers’ dreams come true.
“By joining forces now with our partners at Nissan, we brought a true GT-R fantasy to life. Together, we have the target that soon this ‘monster’ of a vehicle will change the lives of 50 very select enthusiasts. Their wait will soon be over.”
That’s right, folks, the GT-R50 by Italdesign is limited to just 50 units. While this might not be the next-generation GT-R, what do you think of its fresh new look? Let us know in the comments section below!

Most Malaysian will not pay RM4.2 million for ONE Japanese sports car even if its by Italdesign. With that kinda of $$$(4.2million), U can buy Two ORIGINAL Italian sports car (one Ferrari & one Lambo)
what do you mean by ‘ORIGINAL italian sports cars’? are you saying the likes of Pagani, Maserati, Lancia, Alfa Romeo and Dallara are all knock-offs???
aor are saying this because Nissan roped in Italdesign? if thats the case what to do about Peugeot’s 406 coupe and the S15 Silvia, both were penned with the help of Pininfarina…
for the same price you could have a pagani or mclaren senna or koenigsegg
Proton can hire italdesign to pen design for New Proton Perdana, limited run say 100 units. Then price it at RM1 million.
