No slew of exploratory concepts from Daihatsu at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) this year to accompany the customary cute Tokyo showcars, just special editions of Astra Daihatsu’s core range. Of the latter, one model stands out, because it’s not made in Indonesia, but an import from Malaysia.
Of course, we’re talking about none other than the Daihatsu Sirion, which is basically a rebadged Perodua Myvi. This isn’t a new arrangement between the two companies under Daihatsu’s umbrella – the previous generation Myvi was also sold here as a Sirion.
However, unlike in Malaysia, the Sirion isn’t a mass market model here, where it’s a more premium choice compared to A-segment Low Cost Green Cars hatchbacks (Brio, Agya, Ayla) and Low MPVs (Avanza, Xpander, Ertiga, Mobilio).
Launched here in February, the Sirion is available only with the 1NR-VE 1.3 litre engine, paired to either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic. Just one trim level too, priced at Rp 182.5 juta (RM51,384) for the MT or Rp 193.5 juta (RM54,484) for the AT. Naturally, that’s costlier than the Myvi 1.3L, which was priced from RM44,300 to RM48,300 before GST 0% kicked in.
The Indonesian Sirion has the appearance of the Myvi 1.5L as it has the latter’s two-tone 15-inch wheels and 2-DIN touchscreen head unit, but is otherwise largely similar to the Myvi 1.3 Premium X in kit count.
This means that the Sirion comes with LED headlamps, fog lamps, front and rear parking sensors, keyless entry and push start, leather-wrapped steering with audio/phone controls and rear seats with adjustable headrests, among other things.
The new Myvi’s unique homegrown features – digital air-con controls with two memory settings and USB charger on the side of the driver’s seat – are present. There are three D badges on the car – front, rear and steering wheel.
Safety wise, the new Sirion comes with ABS, EBD, VSC, rear seatbelt reminders and four airbags (dual front and side). The engine is the 1NR-VE 1.3 litre Dual VVT-i unit with 95 PS and 121 Nm, but it doesn’t come with our Myvi 1.3 Premium X’s eco-idle auto start-stop system. That’s a big jump from the previous Sirion, kit wise, even if it doesn’t reach the Myvi’s price-equipment ratio.
Strangely, we haven’t seen many D-badge swapped Myvis in Malaysia.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Next Perodua alza might probably be using a heavily modified existing platform to save cost, revamped interior and slimme seats to increase leg room , with all d bells and whistles fitted to the myvi thrown in and more
Tuu diaaa.. P2 peluhur nama malaysia
As rebadger not maker
I’m so proud of Perodua mengharumkan nama Malaysia!!
Money still goes to jepunis
This is Malaysia’s best selling car. This car alone has wiped out Proton completely. Imagine, this car alone, in 3 months, can have sales equivalent to Proton’s entire fleet for 1 whole year.
Everybody buys Perodua Myvi. It uses a pure Toyota Vios engine. In other words, it is 100% a Toyota and for just RM50k, it is the easy way of owning a Toyota.
Poor Proton, sales now 50,000 per year compared to 220,000 Perodua sales
Respected Everyone, Freedom of speech and no more bullying Proton please
Pure Vios engine? More bull fake news?
Here is what’s in Wiki “Unlike the original 2NR-FE … which is using an aluminium block, the 2NR-VE … is still using high-tensile steel”
Yes, Perodua can tumpang glamour Toyota. Toyota does all the hard work and Perodua claims glamour such as above. Typical.
Don’t forget Proton also tumpang glamour Geely…Hihihihihihi
Volvo… Kualiti terbaik… Kita the proton bangun balik… Dgn bantuan geely, Volvo…
Atleast proton ada enjin sendiri. Geely nak beli proton pun sbb dorg nak luaskn ilmu.
Haha! Why so same same like what he said somewhere else!
Stfu or else mana this will tax perodua *sarcasm*
I also can say Myvi sell better than Ferrari. Does it make Perodua better? lulz
still much slower than civic fc turbo.
Most stupid-est comment ever !
haiya..cokia civic turbo also want to mention here..dont la..to many people driving that car already..price is cheap..nothing special..civic turbo? yikes..low class

Guys before you post this article, pls respect every car brands like Perodua, Proton, Toyota, BMW and others. It is called as Freedom of Speech. No more bullying every car brands please. And also don’t ever post rubbish comments and even fake comments. Stop fighting, it might hurt the readers
This is what happens when readers are allowed to comment anonymous without the need to make an account.
Indonesians will love this car big sales therefore Perodua must buy any half empty car factory to meet the demand soon! Preferably those car factory in Shah Alam if any.
None available at the moment, VCMM is in fullswing with Volvo cars, the XC90 is proving to be a very popular model and preparing the CKD of XC40 & XC60. There’s the old FORD factory behind it but that is now a derelict. Perhaps ASSB when they shifts Toyota assembly to Bukit Raja under UMW. ASSB will then have to close shop and the make factory available.
ASSB will not close shop. Toyota assembly will be opening another factory. It means that Toyota assembly will have two, in Shah Alam and Bukit Raja, Klang (Perhaps)
Actually, There will have another Toyota assembly plant in Bukit Raja, Klang. It means that overall there will be two Toyota assembly plants. The current ASSB Toyota assembly plant in Shah Alam under UMW has also confirmed that the current ASSB Toyota plant in Shah Alam under UMW will continue its operation
I live near Shah Alam and I can say for certain that what Joachim stated above is true, so I don’t know why all the dislikes that he got. This disliking system is getting out of hand.
There is a reason bro on both first comment and second comment after I replied to JOACHIM after JOACHIM comment
Juta rupiah not equivalent to million rupiah?
After juta they called it milliar
There is the Daihatsu Ceria which is rebadged Kancil, in both square and round headlamp versions. Were these assembled in Indonesia or imported from Malaysia?
Hopefully it sells well there and generate $$$ for development and improvement of future models
This round I will give Proton 2nd round or 2nd chance as I my ertiga coming in a few days time. Yes is a rebagde from Suzuki. The reason I pick this because the fuel consumption 6 litre per 100km likewise Alza 12 litre per 100 km. The ride is better then Advanza. The cabin low noise compare with Honda BRV. Initially I wanted a Alza but as I view car editors lots thumb up. Cheers
your car will be the ‘latest’ proton model for the next 9 years ownership. Not outdated, just like preve. Worth every penny
Expensive car
