Volvo XC90 T5 AWD Momentum in Malaysia – RM374k

Volvo XC90 T5 AWD Momentum in Malaysia – RM374k

The Volvo XC90 line-up in Malaysia has been expanded to include a lower-spec XC90 T5 AWD Momentum variant. The new addition joins the existing T8 Twin Engine-equipped variants that come in Inscription and Inscription Plus trims.

Under the bonnet, the new variant sports a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 254 hp at 5,500 rpm and 350 Nm of torque from 1,500-4,800 rpm. An Aisin-sourced AW TG-81SC eight-speed automatic transmission is paired with the mill, and there’s also an all-wheel drive system.

In terms of performance, the XC90 T5 AWD will accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 215 km/h. The claimed combined fuel consumption is rated at 7.9 litres per 100 km, which is more than the 2.5 litres per 100 km of the plug-in hybrid model. Also, the T8-powered cars have a higher output – 407 hp and 640 Nm – due to the hybrid electric powertrain but also an additional supercharger.

Volvo XC90 T5 AWD Momentum in Malaysia – RM374k

As mentioned at the start, the XC90 T5 AWD comes in Momentum trim, which includes a gloss black grille with chrome frame (Inscription gets a black and matte silver grille instead). Other differences from the Inscription trim include a different rear bumper without the rectangular exhaust outlets and chrome trim around the rear fog lamp and reflector.

The Momentum also comes without side mouldings at the bottom of the doors, while the wheels are now smaller 19-inch ten spoke turbine alloys with 235/55 profile tyres. You’ll also get LED Illumination headlamps with the brand’s iconic ‘Thor’s Hammer’ daytime running lights, as well as Active High Beam and auto-levelling functions.

On the inside, the dashboard features Cross Brushed Aluminium inlays rather than Linear Walnut items with the Inscription trim. The T8’s crystal gear knob by Swedish crystal makers Orrefors has been swapped for a regular one, but the diamond-cut engine start/stop button and volume control knob remain as before.

The equipment list includes a Sensus Connect infotainment system with nine-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10-speaker, 330-watt audio system, 12.3-inch Adaptive Digital Display instrument panel, dual-zone climate control, black leather upholstery, Comfort seats, power-adjustable driver and front passenger seats, second-row air-con vents (B-pillars only) and a reverse camera.

Safety and driver assistance systems are as per the T8 Twin Engine and include seven airbags, Adaptive Cruise Control, City Safety with Front Collision Warning and Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection with Full Auto Brake, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Aid, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), Roll Stability Control and Hill Descent Control. There’s also the Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving system.

As the new entry-level variant in the XC90 range, the T5 AWD Momentum is priced at RM373,888 on-the-road without insurance. That makes it a little more affordable than its T8-powered siblings – RM403,088 for the T8 Inscription and RM413,088 for the T8 Inscription Plus.

      Agree partially,

Most buyers like the T5 INSCRIPTION SPEC for the XC90 and XC60 not the Momentum specs

But Volvo Car Malaysia keep selling lowest specs T5 Momentum .Furthermore, there is NO OFFERING for T6 ( much praised engine) INSCRIPTION SPEC for xc60

Volvo Car Malaysia SEDANG TIDUR and conducting wrong market research to sell LIKE either you buy
Momentum T5 ( lowest specs) — not Inscription specs
      or
      Highest specs inscription T8.

So most Volvo T5 Momentum specs sales for XC60 is not moving.

Stupid Volvo Car Malaysia management offering engaging wrong sales strategic people.

Not interested to buy any Momentum Spec unless it is offer in Inscription Spec — Period.

Why waste so much of money buying a China made Volvo? Better just buy a X5. Somemore BMW always give heavy discounts.

Even corporate discount of 6%. During road shows you can buy the X5 for even RM350k

Btw in overseas markets, the X5 is far far far mre expensive than even the top most XC90 but in Malaysia, the X5 is cheaper than the XC90. SO worth buying the x5

        • Do not simply recommend if not sure about the market, new X5 is already out, why buying the old model at this time?

First of all. Bmw and volvo are totally at different class. Compare volvo with 3008, cx5 and crv.

There are no rear fog lamp on the rear bumper. It is solely reflectors. The rear fog lamp is in the tail lamp itself.

This is an european design. Built in rear fog lamp inside the brake lights. Good job! Dont be like jepunis car, they like odd-positioned rear fog lamp on the bumper. The most fugly one is only one fog lamp at the center of rear bumper.

Obviously, only coming from Honda design which Honda design looks like odd-positioned rear fog lamp on the bumper. The most fugly is only one fog lamp at the center of rear bumper which is also from Honda design. Not only that, even current Honda design and upcoming Honda design looks like donkey design and looks very ugly and outdated. Moreover, even upcoming Honda design looks very dull, uninspiring and upcoming Honda design doesn’t have any shaped at all.

from what i know, no more rear climate control, no more sunroof, no rear sun shades, no 360 camera, no navigation, no head up display

you are losing quite a lot here….smelling a trend here along with mercedes….looks like the hybrid incentives will be gone soon….

Volvo cars are good, but the after sales services are one of the worst. I called all morning, no one picked up the phone. I called the showroom and asked for help. They said they would check and call back but they never.
