Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia has introduced the updated Land Rover Discovery Sport, which now comes equipped with the brand’s Ingenium petrol engine. The Si4 model is priced at RM379,800 (excluding road tax, registration and insurance) and comes with the Land Rover Care programme – five-year/150,000 km warranty, five-year/65,000 km servicing and three-year roadside assistance.
The mill in question is a 2.0 litre twin-scroll turbocharged four-cylinder unit that makes 240 PS at 5,500 rpm and 340 Nm of torque at 1,250 rpm, which is mated to a ZF nine-speed automatic transmission (with paddle shifters) and four-wheel drive system. The latter is linked to the car’s Terrain Response system, allowing drivers to swap to different drive modes depending on the surface they are driving over.
In terms of performance, the Disco Sport will take 7.6 seconds to accelerate from 0-100 km/h, the top speed is pegged at 200 km/h, while the combined fuel consumption is claimed to be 8 l/100 km. For the Malaysian market, the SUV is offered as a five-seater as standard but you can opt for a 5+2 seating configuration if you want – the latter has a 0-100 km/h time of 7.9 seconds.
Equipment-wise, the Disco Sport gets the InControl Touch infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen and 10-speaker, 380-watt Meridian sound system. It also comes with a five-inch colour TFT instrument cluster display, seven airbags, 12-way powered seats with memory function, automatic climate control, leather upholstery, keyless entry and start, navigation function, xenon headlamps with LED DRLs, automatic headlamps and wipers, powered tailgate, plus 19-inch ‘Style 521’ alloy wheels.
Customers will have a number of options to select from, starting with three interior colour combinations – Ebony/Ebony, Cirrus/Lunar and Almond/Ebony. Optional wheels include the same 19-inch ‘Style 521’ units done up in gloss black, as well as a larger 20-inch ‘Style 511’ set. Eight exterior colour options are offered too – Fuji White, Yulong White, Indus Silver, Scotia Grey, Corris Grey, Firenze Red, Loire Blue and Santorini Black.
