We’re eagerly awaiting the unveiling of the new 2019 Mazda 3, and while there’s still a month to go before the C-segment contender’s expected debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, motoring news portal Carscoops has come across a few illustrations that appear to show the car’s full exterior and interior design.
These images, which look to have come from either an owner’s manual or a parts brochure, reveal a car inspired by the Kai Concept from last year’s Tokyo Motor Show. The front end is reminiscent of the recently facelifted Mazda 6, with the thick grille surround flowing underneath the slim headlights. The bonnet shutline has been separated from the grille and headlights, in a similar fashion to the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class.
Along the side, the long bonnet, short tail proportions of this sedan version have been retained, but the predecessor’s upswept beltline has been straightened somewhat, though the C-pillar kink remains. Moving to the rear, the two piece tail lights get four circular light cans as on the Kai, while the number plate recess has been moved to sit within the bumper.
The interior again draws its design cues from the show car, with air vents that flank the (likely digital) instrument cluster, and climate controls that sit within a slit underneath the upper dashboard – which now also holds the air vents for the passenger side. One difference is that instead of a widescreen display that runs across the dashboard, the infotainment screen returns to being a freestanding unit in the centre.
Mazda is promising big new technologies for the fourth-generation 3, including a new SkyActiv-X petrol engine that combines spark ignition and a diesel engine’s compression ignition to deliver considerable fuel savings. Underpinning the car is a new, more rigid architecture – reportedly incorporating torsion beam rear suspension instead of the current car’s multilink setup – for improved refinement, comfort and handling.

Wow interior macam my BMW E36
Yep. My first thought. At least it won’t squeak like an E36 after a few years
So many complaints from Mazda 3 and Mazda 6 owners. I would only buy the CX5.
Lol i thought you can afford much more than CX5, cakap saja lebih!
Proof?
Why wait, the better car oredy OTR. Civic turbo.
civic turbo ketam too common..not special anymore..feels like driving myvi oredi..same goes with city and hr-v..most honda models are overrated and driven by BBNU (budak2 baru nak up). U drive civic and see a BBNU driving one also..haha

Boring and souless Honda, no fun bro
Turbocharged petrol please
Mazda 3 driver here. Current SkyActiv-G engine does not have the punch to accelerate when on start stop scenario. The forced induction engine on the new model would be nicer but only time can tell about engine longevity. Transmission sometimes not smooth, overall the car feel unrefined.
My guess is the new skyactive X will have better low end torque given much much higher compression ratios.
If they ever make a skyactive X turbo, it would be a great engine. With good low rpm torque characteristics, they can afford to put in a bigger turbo for better mid range and high end torque, not having to worry about turbo lag as much.
Corolla altis, overall more smoother & refined.
dont look as sharp n nice as the concept…disappointed
the rear looks a bit meh. i hope im wrong.
blind spot warning now at the A-pillar, air-cond vent could be similar to recent cx-3
It deviate a lot from the concept car.
Feeling underwhelmed…
when the real car is here, the looks will be 50% different. it won’t look as good as concept.
Does anybody know when the production model will be in the US? I really want to see this car before I have to turn in my current M3 in March. THANKS
i hope mazda fix the road noise problem
