Earlier this week, exterior images revealed the Geely Jiaji for the first time, though not through official channels. Now, the automaker has finally released a photo set largely comprised of the vehicle’s interior, and also offered some initial details of its first global MPV, which will be launched in early 2019.
Designed by Geely’s Shanghai design studio, the Jiaji adopts the brand’s new “racing through space and time” design language as seen on the Borui GE and Binrui. Exterior design cues include an ‘expanding cosmos’ grille and meteor head lamps as well as a sculpted waistline and floating roof.
Dimension-wise, the Jiaji has previously been reported to measure in at 4,706 mm long, 1,909 mm wide and 1,664 mm tall, with a wheelbase length of 2,805 mm. The three-row Jiaji will be offered as a six- or seven-seater, in three seating configurations (2+2+2, 2+2+3 or 2+3+2) to meet different consumers’ needs.
The automaker says the front end of the interior is very much driver-focused, with highlights including a full-vision dashboard, a luxurious central control panel and a 12.3-inch floating widescreen infotainment display panel.
Aside from the glitzy presentation and tech, the MPV will have plenty of user-friendly features – novelties include a motion-activated ceiling light in the roof control console, which eliminates the need to search around for the light switch in the dark, as well as an intelligent cup-holder in the centre console area to heat-up or cool-down drinks, depending on that desired.
Powertrain options have also finally been revealed – there will be three variants offered at point of launch for the MPV, and two of these will feature the Geely/Volvo 1.5 litre turbocharged direct-injection engine in 48V mild hybrid (MHEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) guise.
On the MHEV version, the 1.5 litre turbo and 48V BSG mild-hybrid powertrain combination offers 188 hp and 300 Nm in the way of output. As for the PHEV, the 1.5 litre turbo is paired with a motor, which is juiced by a 11.3 kWh lithium-ion battery – with power transferred to the wheels by a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the combination puts out 255 hp and 385 Nm.
The third is a regular petrol variant equipped with a 1.8 litre turbocharged direct-injection unit. In use on other Geely models such as the Emgrand GT and X7 Sport, the engine delivers 181 hp and 300 Nm and will be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Jiaji is set to make its way here in 2020 and will be badged as a Proton, as a replacement for the Exora. In September, it was reported that the national automaker had secured the use of intellectual properties (IP) and rights to manufacture and sell three Geely models. The Boyue, otherwise known as the Proton X70, is the first of these, and it will be followed by the SX11 SUV (the Binyue) in 2019 and the Jiaji in 2020.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
too slow too late
Geely is turning Proton around so fast. Foreign CEO in 6 months has turned around the company completely what the local CEOs could not do in 20 years
Does this mean foreign CEO is BETTER than local CEO?
Kudos to the previous government that pressed ahead with the Geely venture even though was hit by multiple criticism.
Something we need a forward thinking government to drive through the idea even facing backlash from the masses.
Yeah. Can clearly see previous Gov did a deal of the century by getting so much more when tying up with Geely. Even better than how Trump/ Buffet/ Soros deals.
Is that why LHDN has RM16 billion missing?….lolz!!!
Foreign CEO is better.

Malaysia a dumping site for Chinese products now. Thanks to DRB LOPSIDED agreements
30 years we have suffered with high car prices because of protectionism towards Proton.
And now all Proton can be is rebadging. To research and development at all
Like that, why did we even have Proton in the first place in 1985? In 1985 itself we should have just rebadged a few car brands in Malaysia
The whole purpose of having a National car and National Automotive Policy has gone down the drain
This is not 100 rebadge, more work than to change LHD to RHD than those ady RHD car namely myvi or wira
Past Government did not know how to negotiate good contract for Proton. Pity Proton now. It has become irrelevant. Lost so much. Now just an official rebadger with no transfer of technology. Geely played Proton out because Geely said it would co-develop cars with Proton.
Just for taking RM170 million, Proton lost
1) Complete control our our local car company. Geely has final say and total control of Proton despite having only 49.9% shares
2) Geely got local car taxes. This means Geely is now National car status. Toyota, Honda and Nissan invested tens of billions in Malaysia to get local car status.
3) Proton lost their Shah Alam land worth RM5 billion with a GDV of RM12 billion
4) Proton lost Lotus
Proton sold 49.9% of its company for RM170 million despite Malaysian Government pumping about RM20 billion into the company to bail it out. Surely 49.9% must be worth billion?
Proton employees gonna learn what from this? Geely say going to teach us how to build engines and make our own cars etc……oh wai
Why not? This is the first step
First step was already done decades ago by partnering with Mitsubishi. Now Proton has gone back to square one. 30 years of experience goes to waste
Soon, all China cars will come into Malaysia as the floodgates are already open by Proton
At least Mitsubishi taught us how to make our Campro engines.
What is Geely teaching us? Just peel the Proton sticker, take UHU glue and stick on front and back of Geely cars?
Even my 5 year old child knows how to open a sticker and stick on sticker book
From what you wrote, I have no doubts with certainty your 5 year old child would have done a better job at searching out the true facts, rather than create fiction as what you did. You should be shameful as a parent. Please go learn from your child.
Lolz! Thumbs up!
poor Proton, rebadger after 30 yrs…..lolz. Not clever to do business
Poor p2 rebader since day 1
Even a 5 year old child knows how to separate fact from fiction, but apparently you were incapable of such endevours. Please stick to your sticker book.
Mitsubishi did not teach us how to make Campro engines. That Campro originates from a long forgotten Lotus project in the late 80’s. That is why when the first Campro came out, it had no variable valve timing and shitty low end torque and high fuel consumption. But once you rev the engine higher, the power is okay. This is because that engine was meant to put in super weight body of Lotus sports car. It was not meant to be in city driving cars with a heavy body.
Geely, P1, Mesidis, VolvoCar, VolvoTrucks, Lotus > all
Geely do all the work and Proton just claim glamour. Might as well sack all the 10,000 workers in Proton and just keep about 100 workers in the factory just to tampal the Proton logo onto the Geely car.
10,000 Proton workers bring in 10,000 X70 bookings ok what. Compared to 10,000 Toyota workers doing nothing in showrooms, might as well sack all of them and they can come to Proton and bring in even more sales instead of spending time here talking nonsense.
Oh, did I also mentioned that Perodua have been riding on Toyota glamour for almost 30 years? No shame.
Lolz!
Like I said. U wanna talk bollocks, go do it with ur dupes like above. Dun reply me with fake news.
2020….lol ok
Hopefully Geely will not close down proton RND dept since they only will redesign the bumpers
MITI, Proton dan Rakyat Malaysia sudah kena tipu Geely!!!!!1 …….LOLZ
If MITI intended to do that, they would have closed down Perodua RND a long, long time ago.
I hope you know that Proton RnD is used for converting the RHD models to LHD.
Great biz opportunities beckon local Tier 1 & Tier 2 proton vendors supplying Geely China …
Hopefully by the time RHD CKD version in, P1 wud have integrated the floating HU into the dashboard. X70 one looks more fluid.
The idiotic china names for their equally idiotic vehicles are a laughing stock the world over:)
The only idiot here is you. This car is meant for the chinese market and you expect the car to have an idiotic english name like yours?
Someone just think by changing his name, now he become a white man.
You reply correctly n sharply. Shouldn’t give face to people with cow sense!
….
Perghhhhhh….. Mantap exora baru ni
Abes la, even Civic turbo will be tarpaued like kacang
If This Civc Turbo and X70 and even new Proton MPV will launch this year or next year. Habislah all the Toyotas.
Betui. Ini saya setujui
By 2020,all the Proton vehicles will be actually right hand drive version of geely vehicles, with just a tiger logo.
No wonder Tun said his cucuboy Protong is no longer a national car.
In other words,it is Geely cars, with a TIGER logo.
Geely’s masterplan for Proton coming into effect. Geely’s main goal was to terminate Exora, Saga, Persona, Iriz, Suprima and Perdana completely.
Then, they will bring ALL their Geely cars and market it using Proton’s name.
Geely is so clever, for just RM170 million, they managed to get local car status overnight.
Nissan, Toyota and Honda has spent berpuluh billions over the past 40 years working their way slowly to gaining local car status in Malaysia
But Geely did it overnight. Such a clever company.
Geely’s Masterplan to make Proton the official country distributor for Geely cars is happening.
Serve your jepunis overlord right! Pipu want NEW tech not OUTDATED museum tech that only can be sold in 3rd world countries!
viva proton!!!
This would mean that the Exora will be thrown into the Tong Sampah.
Geely has gone back on their word. They said they are going to co-develop cars with Proton from Scratch.
Like this….where got tranfer of technology? we are just back to being a rebadger.
Past Government did not know how to negotiate a contract with Geely
Larger size, topline tech, and emphasis to safety like Exora did. This MPV is a worthy successor to the spirit of Exora, and no doubt it will continue Exoras success.
Proton, Geely > all
Volvo, proton and gelly memang is a low RV car
So in your opinion, Proton and Geely are better than any other car manufacturer on the planet?
Wow…….just wow……LOL
Meanwhile, back in the real world………………..
Can see how they learned and adapted P1 input at the rear aircon. Previous design like on Boyue had 1 vent but after P1 redevelop it to 2 vents on X70, Jiaji now uses 2 vents as well. Kudos to P1 & Geely! Learning and improving from each other!
Habis la Jiaji! Just see images know already this won’t sell.
The ugly thing is the cosmos grill, but it will be changed to Proton.
This thing is as big as the new X3.
It’s bigger than Innova, with higher tech.
It must be priced competitively.
Why won’t sell? If at least 1 unit sold it’s still consider as can sell, isn’t it?
Bye bye jepunis cars
The earth is flat
Interest! )))
Go Block, Jiaji more high tech than Maxus, Grand Starex, Vellfire and Alphard.
Nice interior. I bet Japanese MPv in Malaysia should adapt it. If not you are behind of China interior design.
Geely, dun forget to train mechanics so they know how to fix it later
Preve front. Looks good interior.
Habis la Innova dan Rush! Jiaji lebih cemerlang.
Habis la Honda models! Innova, Rush dan Jiaji lebih cemerlang. Then it is correct.
but but but its from China
Iphone X also from China. Any problem with that?
I hope these new models will revive Proton’s fortune. Too much time and money has been wasted.
wow…very premium…
Interior looks great. Exterior, hopefully proton will rebadge it better. The output power is nice already, especially the Geely/Volvo engine. Safety wise, hopefully AEB as standard. Definitely a good replacement for Exora.
Well, I can say that Proton is on a good direction to succeed on these 2 upcoming models. Hell lots of potential buyers in Malaysia for B/C segment and above but Proton chosen to compete with Perodua, ended up failed.
Try to Imagine if this is Exora, and they price it correctly, all of sudden Proton future looks very promissing, not only local here but the entire SEA.
Apart from P1 and geely thing, the design was superbly nice
Yap, yap, yap…. launch the first model then only talk la.
I feel that the cars’ design are outdated when compared with the 2019 Jap’s designs. Namely Mazda, Toyota, Honda and Suzuki. Their external look is extremely attractive.
Proton n Geely still have a lot to catch up.
Why not sliding doors? Must add body kit.
Sames reason why Avanza, BRV, Fortuner, Innova doesnt have sliding doors.
1.5T , 3 pot turbo ?
They make all the Japanese cars look bad.Time for Japanese cars to bug up or be left behind.Kudos to Geely.Bye bye Hondas ,Toyotas, Mits, and others.A design waited by nations.
ya… good child, really know how to peer off he sticker.. so clever siah… Lol
