Toyota GR Supra TRD Performance Line Concept officially teased ahead of 2019 Osaka Auto Messe

Toyota GR Supra TRD Performance Line Concept officially teased ahead of 2019 Osaka Auto Messe

At this year’s Osaka Auto Messe, Toyota will present a TRD concept based on the new GR Supra, which it is calling the Performance Line. The concept is inspired by previous Supra race cars as well as factory tuned specials, and will debut on February 9.

Zero details were provided to go along with the announcement, but there is a sketch of the concept that hints at a massive rear wing being one of the modifications. There’s also a ventilated hood that is reminiscent of the one found on the Supra TRD 3000GT.

The concept will likely preview a range of TRD accessories and parts, which will be offered to customers when the Supra goes on sale in Japan. The sports car is offered with two engine options in the country, with the first being a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder that makes either 197 PS/320 Nm or 258 PS/400 Nm.

The second choice is a larger 3.0 litre turbo straight-six with 340 PS and 500 Nm of torque. All engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission by default.

Lolwhut? People weren’t taken by Gazoo Racing gimmick so they needed to gattai both GR and TRD for this car?! Ultimate facepalm! If this turned out to be another failure, what next? Gattai with Ultraman R/B or Super Sentai Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger?

What a beautiful car. But don’t worry Malaysians, you can get the same Toyota quality in your Aruz. No need to pay a big bomb and buy a Toyota car when Perodua gives you access to Toyota engines for cheap cheap!

Toyota, please just dump the very embarrasing Gazoo Racing brand and stick to the legendary TRD brand! It is like mercedes dumping AMG and creating a brand named kukoo.

  • Add on TRD stickers and GR bodykits. 100% can make people* believe this is the real performance Toyota they’ve been waiting for. *Those that don’t know it’s a BMW Z4 underneath.

The most epic fail of automotive branding. What are they thinking when they pick ‘GAZOO’? Sounds like it is more to do with monkeys rather than fast cars.
