Nissan X-Trail facelift launched in Thailand – minor restyling, added safety tech for petrol and 2.0L hybrid

Nissan has given the X-Trail an update for Thailand, and the refresh adds on minor enhancements and introduces new kit to the SUV. The variant line-up has also been revised, with the 2.0 litre petrol being dropped from the model line-up in the Kingdom, the range now consisting of three 2.5 litre petrol (2.5S 2WD, 2.5V 2WD and 2.5VL 4WD) and two 2.0 litre hybrid (V and VL, both 4WD) versions.

Exterior revisions are minor, led by a new front fascia with a V-Motion grille and a restyled bumper, along with new headlamps with LED daytime running lights. The rear, meanwhile, gets a new bumper and revised rear combination lamps with LED boomerang lights, with new chrome-finished side door moldings completing the general revision.

There’s also a new 19-inch two-tone aluminium alloy wheel design for the 2.5VL 4WD variant, as well as new exterior colours – in all, six shades are available for the car, these being Monarch Orange, Radiant Red, Black Star, Storm White, Brilliant Silver and Deep Iris Grey.

New kit includes a foot-activated auto lift tailgate and a new A-IVI audio entertainment system with a seven-inch touchscreen. The SUV also features a raft of driving assist systems, badged under the Nissan Intelligent Mobility umbrella. Standard fit items across the range include forward collision warning, intelligent emergency brake and moving object detection.

Additionally, the VL petrol and hybrid variants feature intelligent cruise control, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot warning, lane departure warning and high-beam assist. All grades are equipped with a four-camera Around View Monitor (AVM) 360-degree view system.

The petrol version of the X-Trail is powered by a QR25DE 2.5 litre engine offering 171 PS at 6,000 rpm and 233 Nm at 4,000 rpm, while the five-seater hybrid is equipped with a MR20DD 2.0 litre mill delivering 144 PS at 6,000 rpm and 200 Nm at 4,400 rpm, working with an electric motor offering an additional 41 PS and 160 Nm. Both engine options are paired with a CVT ‘box with manual mode.

Pricing for the refreshed X-Trail starts from 1.35 million baht (RM174,880) for the baseline 2.5S 2WD variant up to 1.66 million baht (RM215,000) for the range-topping 2.5VL 4WD, while the 2.0 litre hybrid starts from 1.537 million (RM199,100) for the 2.0V 4WD.

I think based on old X Trail Malaysian pricing, when ETCM brings in the Hybrid 2.0 model into Malaysia, the price may even go down to RM100k as it will benefit from Hybrid tax incentive tax

Even current X Trail already now going for about RM125k without tax discounts

Waiting for ETCM to CKD the Hybrid model here. Then it can benefit from our EEV and Hybrid tax initiative given by the Government.

Like that, the price would be like below RM130k.

Ha ha ha ha. Wow, top Japanese 7 seater now going for RM130k and below!

The X-Trail’s hybrid powertrain would be lovely under the hood of a C27 Serena.

Old Serena had hybrid drive but current gen got that ripped out. This is ETCM brainless planning, and they are still wondering why sales are so bad til they have to throw prices while others have long waiting lists.

Another fake news. I hardly see the new Serena in KL at all. Mostly I saw was the old Serena.

Yea the current engine that our C27 is using is a fuel guzzler in my case. I go over many speed bumps and hilly areas and I can only get up to 400km on a full tank with just 2-3 occupants in the MPV.

ECON mode too sluggish for this heavy car. It will make drivers to push harder thereby drinking more fuel.

Serena’s powertrain isn’t even a Hybrid powertrain, it’s just a 48-Volt electrical system, similar to Mercedes CLS53’s EQ boost. No additional battery or pure electric drive whatsoever. False marketing to call it a hybrid.

  • Should we even hope for the facelifted X-Trail to arrive in Malaysia? Perhaps next year or year after? Not likely coming this year as their product planners still in coma.

If it miraculously makes an appearance this year, maybe they would do well to make the 7-seaters 2.5l AWD only, and introduce a 5-seater 2.0 hybrid AWD as well. Oh wait I forgot, it’s ETCM we are talking about here, they don’t do things properly.

You are right. ETCM is a bit lembap. I think they are following GLC kind of mentality……always waiting for bantuan kerajaan

When ETCM eventually bring this into the Malaysian market, I hope that there will be only be a sole hybrid powertrain option offered.

Knn now only Thialand got it which is already a year late. That means when it arrives in Malaysia it will be in 2020. By that time Japan would have already launched the next gen Xtrail.

waiting to see how many people in the comments will shut up when the x trail is launched this year.

FYI, TC buys parts from Thailand, any new models that comes, have to be thailand first then us.

Now if the Facelift is launched this year (with 6 airbags cause honestly anything less than 6 is fail), wanna see how many people will comment…

    “why so expensive”

    “why so slow”

    “why so ugly”

    “why no propilot”

    “why resale value low”

“why give hybrid but no 2 liter NA?”

“why give 2 liter NA no hybrid?”

    “why hp so low?”

    keyboard warriors.
