With the conclusion of 2019 MotoGP Winter Test at Sepang, Ducati left the circuit taking the top four places, with Danilo Petrucci clocking a blistering 1:58:239 – an unofficial lap record, riding the 2019 Mission Winnow Ducati GP19. This beats the previous unofficial fastest lap set by Jorge Lorenzo – at the time still riding for Ducati – when the Spaniard clocked 1:58:830.
However, it should be remembered that Winter Test times mean little as racing proper begins, as teams are still shaking down machinery, testing new equipment and bike settings. So, take the numbers with a pinch of salt, and let the racing begin.
As the MotoGP circus moves to Qatar for a final Winter Test and the race season begins in earnest at the Losail circuit on 10 March, most of the MotoGP teams have revealed their race livery for the 2019 season. Some teams retain their traditional race clothing, like Repsol Honda Racing, whose race bikes remain mostly unchanged.
New teams have appeared on the grid for this year, notably Monster Energy Yamaha, who make their debut after long time Yamaha Factory Racing sponsor Movistar elected not to renew their contract after 2018. Another new race livery is Petronas Yamaha SRT with riders Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Quartararo and team principal Datuk Razlan Razali banking on a mix between experience and youth.
Malaysian hero Hafizh Syahrin rides for Red Bull KTM Tech 3 alongside Miguel Oliveira, in the team run by Herve Poncheral. Tech 3 made the news last year with a surprise announcement its 20-year partnership with Yamaha as a satellite team would not be renewed in 2019.
Winter Test at Sepang saw a few teams trying out new variations on the winglets, the most obvious being Ducati and Yamaha. The mysterious carbon-fibre box located in the tail section of the GP19 drew a few comments and when the author asked what was inside the box, the answer was, “I could tell you, but I will have to kill you. Then I would have to kill myself.”
Rounding things off, here is a gallery of the 2019 MotoGP racing machine liveries. Which bike do you think looks the most elegant?

Thank you for this superb coverage Rama!
So colourful and attractive. This is what I call motorsports!
Means that the test is done here in the sunny weather at Sepang when it’s winter in Europe.

very beautiful moto
The best looking (liveried) bikes IMHO :
Mission Winnow Ducati (proper all-red Ducati!)
Ecstar Suzuki
KTM Factory
KTM Tech 3
I think the PETRONAS Yamaha Team could have used their traditional emerald green, a la PETRONAS Foggy FP1.Looks better..
Petronas green bike seems old school. The metal grey brings modern looks to it. Imho. I think it looks cool and threatening
It’s old-school but retro-cool with a clear & unique Petronas brand identity. Grey colour is rather quite ordinary these days.
