Here’s something a little interesting – we’ve just received spyshots from reader Syed Mohd Nur Isa, showing Perodua testing a Daihatsu Tanto kei car on local roads. How do we know that it’s Perodua? Because the same trade plate has previously been seen on the company’s Daihatsu Move and Ayla test mules, the latter eventually spawning the Axia.
Now, before you jump at the possibility of a new kind of Perodua model, don’t get too excited. When we saw the Move being tested all those years ago, speculation was rife about there being a next-generation Kenari, and we all know that came to nothing. It’s now clear that the national carmaker was trialling the active safety systems that would eventually find their way onto the Myvi and Aruz.
Could this Tanto, then, indicate that Perodua is ready to introduce more functions to its Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) suite? Currently, the Myvi gets collision warning and autonomous emergency braking at speeds of between 4 and 30 km/h, along with Front Departure Alert and Pedal Misoperation Control. The Aruz upped the AEB speed threshold to 80 km/h and introduced pedestrian detection at speeds of up to 50 km/h.
In Japan, Daihatsu’s Smart Assist III system is available with two more features not offered in Malaysia – lane departure warning and automatic high beam. These functions could be introduced on cars like the next-generation Axia, which could arrive as soon as this year, along with the facelifted Myvi that should make its debut within a year or two.

Perodua is improving everyday. Now they are testing japan’s game changing kei car in here which means that it will be sold here soon. If it is release here, we can expect it to sell like hotcakes!
This guy here just pull something from his behind instead of reading the article.
(Like) P1 Saga
(Dislike) P2 Axia
Come here and we will rebadge it as P2 Tonto
Are they serious?

JUARA is back!!!!!
Aik.. juara ke ni.. ke freed facelift?
If next generation Axia used tgis system, I would be REALLY SUPRISED, and it will become the cheapest car in the whole world to get AEB
Japan Daihatsu Mira (Which is what Axia is base on) already using ASA equivalent or Smart Assits in Japan for quite a long time… Their car is way cheaper… So it is only applicable in Malaysia for being the cheapest car with AEB..

Return of Kenari?
Perodua Juara lah
Why facelift myvi n axia???? When alza gonna be replaced? Alza is the only perodua car that outdated.. come on perodua.. do something for alza… at least give push start button n keyless entry.. even bezza n axia also have…
Perodua like to work secretly. I’m sure they are already working on the new alza
Alza is the only japanese car (JDM) left in perodua lineup. The rest including the aruz, myvi arent qualified to be sold in japan. Every single model in perodua lineup are cheaply made for developing countries. They all put fancy features as dedak to fool buyers into thinking they are buying a superior product. I rather buy the old alza than a milo can aruz.
Alza would be replaced by a car based on the future (next generation) Toyota Avanza (2020 above). Valid info from P2 insider.
I dont think they will echance more.. afraid will disturb aruz market.. yeah i know people said 1 is mpv and 1 is suv.. but trust me.. malaysian mostly concern on price first.. also both can carry 7 passangers.. so no big problem then.. just gap price is +/- 10k.. and rich man dont bother this.. mybe they go for mazda 5x instead..
I prefer move design over tanto. Maybe malaysia just going to be scrapyard for this fugly looking tanto.
Yes, Axia FL will be coming soon end of this year and it is equipped with ASA also, same like Myvi and Aruz. Goodjob Perodua.
Kenari replacement
Those comment about the car shows that they never read the article and jump to conclusion. The article says perodua is testung the new ASA system, not the car.
Myvi space wagon, with bigger boot, leg room and rear aircond
They tested the exact same Tanto in Indonesia too, wondering what did they test. Definitely not the entire car, could be just the safety feature
Bring back the Rusa!
The Rusa is a hell lot more of a spacious 7 seater than both the alza and aruz.
my uncle still has it
this car looks flimsy. corner a bit, already terbalik.
We need more kei cars! Malaysia are filled with big arse alphards and velfires when our roads are so narrow
Still waiting for a real upgrade to the bezza…
Why not bring back the newer 2017 Move instead of the old 2014 Tanto?
When will Alza getting all the safety features like full spec myvi n aruz? It is about time now.
Say, Bring on to Malaysia , Perodua tandoori , with the tandoori chicken red for 1st editon.
