Honda HR-V RS – full black interior replaces ivory

Honda HR-V RS – full black interior replaces ivory

Honda Malaysia (HMSB) has introduced a new black interior for the HR-V RS. The change from the ivory interior comes following customer feedback and five months after the facelifted SUV made its local debut.

As such, the black interior replaces the ivory-coloured elements in the RS, switching the leather upholstery, centre console and dashboard panel trim as well as the door panel lining to black. There are no other changes beyond the cosmetic update.

The HR-V RS is based on the Grade V variant, and adds on a number of exterior styling bits, including a sports-type front grille and a mesh-style front fog lamp garnish.

It also introduces gloss black contrasts to the lower part of the front/rear bumpers, side sills and side mirror covers. Additionally, the outer door handles are finished in dark chrome, while the licence plate garnish is in black chrome. Rounding off the styling upgrades are 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, wrapped with 225/50 profile tyres.

Like all the petrol versions in the line-up, the RS is powered by a 1.8 litre SOHC i-VTEC engine offering 142 PS at 6,500 rpm and 172 Nm at 4,300 rpm, and this is paired with a CVT ‘box with paddle shifters. Specific to the RS model is a new Variable Gear Ratio (VGR) steering system.

Safety-wise, the HR-V now gets six airbags as standard across the model range, and there’s also emergency stop signal (ESS), vehicle stability assist (VSA) and hill start assist (HSA). The RS also features a Honda LaneWatch blind spot camera, but does not come with City Brake Active System (CTBA) autonomous emergency braking.

Available in three exterior colours (Passion Red Pearl, White Orchid Pearl and Modern Steel Metallic), the HR-V RS is priced at RM124,800 on-the-road, without insurance.

According to HMSB, the company has received more than 12,200 bookings for the facelifted HR-V since its launch in January, and more than 7,000 units have been delivered to customers to date. It added that around 20% of the total sales for the model is made up of the RS variant.

Thats more i like it. Interior should be blck color. Ivory will easily get dirty, especially those who have kids, so those who have kids will understand why dark interior car is better.

Honda understand customers. This is the game changing action that proves Honda do understand us. We don’t like this, then Honda will follow what we want and change it immediately and that is why Honda sales is No.2 in Msia. Our Proton should learn from world-class companies like Honda because Proton kept giving game over cars that we actually don’t want.

More expensive but not much added. Only 20% really can afford the car.
The rest are people whom die2 want to owm a Honda. Such is the Malaysian automotive market.

  • I remembered the accord sv4 back then had an antenna that will rise up at the front bumper to warn u dat u r coming too close up front

Howabout maybe , adding front sensors and camera , and the camera switches on whenever u get too close

Also, izzit possible in the future that the paddle shifters serves dual purpose….? Maybe you can switch it between shifting gears and acceleration/braking….

at least it could help with tired legs sometimes …..

Why not HM just provide both the ivory and black interior at the same time? I’m sure there’s still got plenty of people like me who are willing to opt for the ivory color that makes this RS variant’s interior looks special and don’t mind to do the maintenance work frequently.

The beautiful ivory interior is what the RS got going for itself anyway. Without the ivory interior, customers are better of with the V.
