The first 2020 Toyota GR Supra to roll off the production line, “Global #1,” has been delivered to its owner at Toyota USA’s Plano headquarters last week. Toyota dealer John Staluppi paid US$2.1 million (RM8.67 million) for the fifth-generation A90 Supra in January at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Arizona.
Global #1 is the only VIN that will end in 20201 – with “2020” representing the year the Supra was reintroduced to the world and “1” marking it as the first vehicle to roll off the line. This US-market launch edition‘s exterior is factory-finished with a matte grey paint, red mirror caps and matte black wheels. The red interior is accented with carbon fibre inserts.
Staluppi also received several other goodies from Bob Carter, Toyota USA’s executive vice president of sales, when he picked up his car. These include a Toyota racing suit and a signed photo from Toyota president Akio Toyoda. Toyoda also signed the #1 Supra’s engine cover to commemorate the first Supra produced in 20 years after the famous JZA80 was discontinued.
Proceeds from the auction will benefit the American Heart Association and the Bob Woodruff Foundation, which serves veteran and military families.
In the US, the available trim levels are the 3.0 and 3.0 Premium, besides the 1,500-unit numbered Launch Edition, which is priced at US$55,250 (RM228,119). The BMW-sourced 3.0 litre straight-six turbo makes 335 hp and 495 Nm of torque from 1,600 to 4,500 rpm, with an eight-speed automatic sending drive to the rear axle. No 2.0L option for the US market. Coming to Malaysia soon.

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
BMW does many hard work on manufacturing on BMW Z4. Unlike for Toyota, Toyota always very lazy which Toyota rebadges BMW Z4 like changing logo for Supra, putting BMW engine into Supra and Supra interior design looks the same as Z4.
So the new quote said that, “if you want to buy Good Toyota, better go for BMW”
Always lazy?? U mean all Toyota cars are built by BMW? What are u smoking dude?

He probably recoup the cost by selling few Supras when they are in stock, meanwhile this gives him good publicity for his dealership and folks within the area will be flocking to his shop to have a look at the real thing while other dealers have to wait.
this is a business move, but as usual commoners thinks it’s cool and will follow suit. just like splashing big money on weddings banquet & buying fancy sports cars. Businessman do it for business, commoners just follow.
