This is one car brand we don’t hear very often. Lister, a British sports car manufacturer, has introduced the LFT-C sports car at its headquarters in Lancashire. Only 10 units of the car will be built for the global market, continuing the brand’s tradition of making highly limited-edition supercars.

The LFT-C is essentially the convertible version of the LFT-666 Coupe, which was launched in 2018 with a production limit of 99 units. If you find that the car looks familiar, well, that’s because it’s based on the Jaguar F-Type, particularly the F-Type R Convertible with the 5.0 litre supercharged V8 petrol.

In the case of the LFT-C, the V8 engine has been tuned by Lister to produce 675 hp, up from the F-Type R’s 550 hp output. That makes it the most powerful open-top Lister ever built, boasting a 0-100 km/h sprint time of just over three seconds and a top speed in excess of 330 km/h. It also takes over the title from the LeMans Convertible as the fastest open-top Lister.

Each LFT-C is manufactured with bespoke Lister carbon-fibre body panels, designed and manufactured in the UK. These include the new front bumper, front splitter, rear diffuser, rear lip spoiler, rear extended wheel arches and the new radiator grille design with improved aerodynamic qualities.

Elsewhere, the bespoke wheels, exhaust, suspension and braking system fitted to the LFT-666 coupe are carried over, although tuned to better suit the characteristics of an open-top supercar.

On slower days, one can relish in the custom-made cabin as well. Here, the convertible gets a hand-stitched Bridge of Weir Nappa leather interior, created to client specification, covering every element of the cabin, including roof-lining and dashboard.

Again, production is limited to just 10 units worldwide, and prices start from £139,000 (RM726k). The order books are already open, and as usual you can customise the car to suit your tastes. In terms of aftersales, the LFT-C benefits from a seven-year warranty package – the same as other Lister models that are currently on sale.

Company CEO, Lawrence Whittaker said: “The LFT-666 has been a huge success for Lister, with cars being delivered around the world. Many customers asked for an open version and, as a result, we created the LFT-C. The noise of the 675-hp Lister-tuned V8 is incredible with the roof down and the styling adds real aggression to the looks.”

“To launch a new car is always a special moment for me, but the LFT-C also finds a place in the Lister history books as the fastest open-top Lister ever made, overtaking the mighty Le Mans. This is a very special, very exclusive car,” he added.
