Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has reached the six-figure mark at its assembly plant in Pekan, Pahang, with a Mercedes-AMG C 43 4Matic sedan becoming the 100,000th car to roll out the production facility. 2019 also marks the 15th anniversary of the assembly plant.
The line-up of products that emerge from Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s local production plant consists of 13 variants from five model lines including the C-Class, E-Class and S-Class sedans, GLC and GLC Coupe SUVs, as well as two Mercedes-AMG models, the C 43 and the GLC 43.
A sum of RM300 million has been invested into the 339,000 sq m facility on 895,000 sq m of land since 2004, including the recently added plant extension with technology upgrades, which is set to be fully equipped and commence operations in two weeks. The facility has also commenced assembly of the left-hand drive C 180 Avantgarde sedan for the Philippines.
“As we set to expand our production volumes, we have undertaken technological upgrades at our plant to enhance our ability to cater to a more robust production portfolio and contribute towards an increased market share of Mercedes-Benz vehicles locally and regionally, said president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, Claus Weidner.
The decision to commence export of left-hand drive cars to a market such as the Philippines was more feasible than establishing a manufacturing plant in the country, Weidner said. The company is also watching with interest the National Automotive Policy, which is expected to be reviewed in September.

Pekan plant has done well because they follow German work culture. They work very hard and the workers there focus on their daily task.
This is a culture Proton needs to emulate and follow.
Work culture like this?

U wrong, Mercedes must follow Proton. Proton is top car company even Mercedes cannot compete for these qualities they lack from them; superior mentality and superior ignorance. P1 > Mercedes.
amazing, Mercedes has paid more company tax than our National Car company. The past 15 years, Proton has been given exemption and no need to pay company tax
Company tax like this? (See: Proton has contributed around RM24 billion in taxes since 1985.)

You’re either stupid or a troll. Until recently, the most expensive car in the Proton range was around 105k. In comparison, the cheapest Merc is about 250k, maybe. Go back to school la.
Have you ever contemplate he might be BOTH?
