Proton records 9,127 registrations in August; 10,000 bookings received for 2019 Saga since launch

Proton continues to chart sales growth with its latest figures of 9,127 units registered for August this year, according to the automaker. This represents a 17.6% share of total industry volume (TIV) for August, increasing the company’s market share to 15.3% at this time of the year.

Sales has grown 36% year-on-year during the same time the total industry volume has decreased 5.8%, according to the company. Total sales as of the end of August stands at 61,396 units, and the firm is on track to exceed its 2018 overall sales figure of 64,744, it added; should the current growth trend be maintained, the 2018 figure will be surpassed before the end of September, the company said.

Bookings for the Proton Saga which was launched early last month has exceeded 10,000 units, from which over 1,000 has come from Proton’s online booking platform for a fee of RM9.99; popular demand has driven the extension of the closing date for online bookings to September 17. The new Saga averaged over 500 orders daily in the first week since its launch.

“With initiatives like the opening of additional 3S/4S outlets and improvements to customer service and product quality set to continue this year, we are confident of being able to close-out 2019 strongly,” said Proton CEO Li Chunrong.

The number of online bookings for the Saga exceeded those received for the X70 SUV, therefore the online booking period has been extended to give more buyers the chance to use the platform, the CEO said.

Iriz & Persona with Campro & Punch CVT sales are doing quite well too. No need 4AT as Geely’s work on the same CVT has been impressive and even Hafriz admitted this should be the definitive level for Iriz & Persona.

Nope, I enjoy Paultan.org but I never used one of their authors as my guide. For me, no CVT or DCT in the Iriz, Persona. 5-speed or 6-speed normal auto will be good enough for better fuel consumption. Dont stop at Hyundai for tranny, go for other Japanesse manufacturers.

Are you aware that even Japanese manufacturers have CVT or manual options only for their small cars? 5/6/7speeder autoboxes are only for their higher ranged cars. CVT works just how it is implemented and of course, the feeling is different than a conventional autobox but people will get used to it.

Campro is the valves management system. Proton took out and replace with VVT. So, it is not a Campro! And some of the commenter called himself/herself an ENGINEER. Oh, Malaysian.

Anyway, welcome back 4AT. Good bye CVT.
