2019 Audi Q3 launched in Malaysia – from RM270k

2019 Audi Q3 launched in Malaysia – from RM270k

The second-generation Audi Q3 has been launched in Malaysia, and is being offered in a sole advanced 1.4 TFSI S tronic variant that is priced at RM269,900 on-the-road without insurance. First revealed globally back in July 2018, the SUV competes against the BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA.

Under the bonnet is a 1.4 litre TFSI turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 150 PS (147 hp) from 5,000 to 6,000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque from 1,500 to 3,500 rpm, with drive going to the front wheels via a six-speed S tronic wet dual-clutch gearbox. The Q3 will get from a rest to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds, hit a top speed of 207 km/h and has a combined fuel consumption of 7.2 l/100 km.

Built on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform, the Q3 is 97 mm longer (4,484 mm), 25 mm wider (1,849 mm) and 23 mm lower (1,585 mm) than before, with a 77 mm longer wheelbase (2,680 mm). The revised exterior styling is inspired by larger SUVs in Audi’s line-up, most notably the LED lighting units that resemble those on the e-tron; the front headlamps come with high beam assist, while the taillights have dynamic indicators.

There’s also the ever-present signature Singleframe grille, albeit in an octagon design with vertical slats, while other items include roof rails finished in anodised aluminium and 18-inch five-arm style alloy wheels. As the Q3 is dressed in advanced trim, the bumpers also get contrasting Manhattan grey accents.

Meanwhile, the sleek, minimalist dashboard and metallic garnishing are evocative of other models like the A6, A7 and A8, but does without the dual-screen interface in higher-rung models like those models and the Q8. For our market, the Q3 comes with a 10.1-inch central touchscreen linked to the MMI Navigation plus infotainment system, which is paired to a 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus digital instrument display.

The kit list also includes powered front seats with four-way lumbar support, leather/leatherette upholstery, dual-zone climate control, Audi connect, Audi smartphone interface, a three-spoke leather steering wheel, black gloss dash accents and door sill trims with aluminium accents. As for the safety and driver assistance systems, you’ll get ESC, hold assist, Audi drive select, cruise control, hill descent control and Audi parking system plus.

The Q3 will be on display at this year’s Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE) organised by us, paultan.org, which is set to take place at the Setia City Convention Centre from November 2-3, 2019. Audi Malaysia also announced that from November 2-10, customers who purchase any Audi model will qualify for a lucky draw, with the top prize being an exclusive Audi Driving Experience package in Germany worth RM40,000.

We’ve had a chance to sample the latest Audi Q3 previously, and you can read Jonathan Lee’s thoughts about it here. See full specifications of the Q3 at CarBase.my.

In Malaysia, rich people have confirmed, repair and service Audi is more expensive than repair and service their Rolls Royce or Bentley.

Same like our Fiat, what a good car but run by Torino Motors, who, most of the time had staff sleeping in the office/showroom

Audi is already dead in Malaysia, somemore they put prices like this. Lagi nobody will buy.

I don’t blame them. Their staff and marketing team still ex staff of DRB and most of them, cannot think intelligently. Just given jobs like the 1.6 million Government servants buta buta

This is what happens when Singaporean manages. During under DRB, Audi was making great steps forward like the A6 Hybrid

This is why the whole industry considers the A6 Hybrid as the biggest failure car in Malaysia. No secret.

Even used car dealers dare not touch the A6 Hybrid. Owners selling off their A6 Hybrid which they bought for RM279k in 2014 are only offered RM50k for their cars.

Wow wow wow RM279 to RM50k in less than 4 years.

          Well done DRB.

Everybody scared to buy Audi in Malaysia because repair bills are crazy. I got so many frens, to repair their aircon alone in their Q5 cost RM15k

Hybrid Battery for A6 also RM100k.

Then non stop problems with their engines and quality.

I think even Proton X70 is 10000X better quality than any Audi in Malaysia.

Can Audi Malaysia pls tell us why they charge so mahal mahal for any repairs?

Tak kan repair aircon can come to RM15k

sales of Audi so bad in Malaysia until MAA figures also don’t publish it.

I went there recently and all the staff still use DRB logo shirts.

Dimensions are very similar to the Tiguan (except that the Tiguan is higher). Same MQB platform with similar advanced high-strength steel content. Same powertrain too – 1.4TSI with 6-speed wet clutch.

Not bad for a reskinned Tiguan at RM100k more.

Big price hike compared to the previous Q3 1.4 TFSI and true to Malaysian fashion we don’t get the new 1.5 engine. If the Mk8 Golfs continues to soldier on with the old 1.4 TFSI I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Overprice S3 with sane specs as VWTiguan the latter is much better value and bigger inside too Kudos to VW Malaysia… Audi shld hv used their 2 litre turbo with 4WD to compete with XC40 thr latter Value for Money

Audi in Malaysia is managed by idiots. End of story. Hopefully specs since Audi A6 hybrid, hopeless price and massive discounts. They cant sell more than 1000 units since 2013.

Again Audi thinks without brain, over price and one of th worse resale value (-18% annually) – Good car, brilliant marketing, ego price tag…

    GLA ($240)
