VIDEO REVIEW: 2019 Audi A5 Sportback in Malaysia

Audi may have been quiet in recent years with low-key product launches, but among the many new models that are on sale today, the second-generation A5 Sportback stands out for a few good reasons.

At RM339,900, the fully-imported four-door coupe actually undercuts the previous generation model by RM20k, but it loses the sportier S line package that was previously standard. The kit here includes LED headlights with LED DRLs, LED tail lights, 19-inch silver multispoke wheels shod with 255/35 profile Bridgestone Potenza S001 tyres, and a powered tailgate.

Inside, the 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit is standard, and the freestanding 8.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system is loaded with MMI navigation plus as standard. The system also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, although this only works via a wired connection.

Under the bonnet is the third-generation EA888 2.0 litre four-cylinder TFSI engine with dual injection technology. It’s tuned to produce 252 hp and 370 Nm of torque, all of which is sent to the quattro all-wheel drive system via a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission. The 0-100 km/h sprint is done in six seconds flat, and the sexy sportback tops out at 250 km/h.

    • I doubt that, at least not in Malaysia. But the build quality is still outstanding, even when compared to Benz, BMW or Lexus.

Lexus is also up there in terms of quality but yeah Merc and BMW… especially BMW has a long way to go for durability of its interior. Never have I experienced a steering wheel horn cover that becomes sticky over the years….nevermind the door handles that melts.

4.4s or 6s? Have you ever accelerated your car to the limit? I haven’t in decades.

Best all rounder car when compared to the stiff G20 and the unsettled W205. The A4 is pretty good but this look better. Too bad they still do not have plans for any CKD.

You need to have a certain mentality to buy a PHEV Volvo.
