Kia Malaysia previously teased the new Seltos on its social media pages last year, and it looks like the model could make its local launch debut soon, as soon as next month it seems. At a recent Chinese New Year event, the company held a sneak preview of the B-segment SUV for its dealers, who have since shared photos of the SUV on Facebook.
Based on the provided photos, we see two trim levels (standard and GT Line) of the Seltos that could be offered. On the exterior, the GT Line model is distinguished from the regular one by a different front bumper that features a silver-coloured, trapezoidal-shaped trim around the lower intake.
The GT Line also comes with Y-spoke alloy wheels as opposed to a five-twin-spoke design, along with dedicated badges on various parts of the car’s body. As for the interior, you’ll find more badging on the GT Line’s flat-bottom steering wheel and seat backrests, while the seats carry a striped pattern instead of a quilted one as seen with the standard model.
As for equipment, the Seltos units seen here appear to come with LED headlights, taillights and fog lamps, a 3.5-inch or 7-inch instrument cluster display, manual or automatic air-conditioning, passive cruise control, keyless start as well as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
For now, it isn’t known what engines will be available when the Seltos is launched here. In India, the Seltos is offered with three engines, two being petrol and one diesel. The former includes a 1.5 litre naturally-aspirated engine with 115 PS/144 Nm and a 1.4 litre turbocharged unit with 140 PS/242 Nm. As for the diesel, it is a 1.5 litre unit that serves up 115 PS/250 Nm.
Meanwhile, the US-spec Seltos is available with a choice of two petrol engines, with the first being a 177 PS/264 Nm 1.6 litre T-GDI turbocharged mill, while the other is a 2.0 litre naturally-aspirated unit offering 149 PS/179 Nm. Our guess is the the US-spec offerings are the more likely options.
When launched, the Seltos will compete against other B-segment SUVs like the Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3, Renault Captur and Nissan Kicks.

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Finish Honda Malaysia and their arrogant salesmen. This upcoming City Turbo cost RM73K but without AEB, land departure warning and blind spot monitor. Alamak!!!!!! Nobody will touch this brand. Salesman will start crying. So called as “Power of Nightmare Cars”
As majority in Malaysia fed up of driving honda cars because too many quality issues on newer Honda models after bought for less than 1 year. When go to aftersales service, people also complaining most of the aftersales service dealer. Cannot solve. Shows that technicians are having half past six, lying, didn’t repair at all, never repair other peoples car at all.
Yet, some of them are still buying Honda cars with brainless. Also, come here hating kimchi cars with low resale value and hating mazda. Just look at safety specs, most of Honda models are really kosong spec. Compare to Mazda, Toyota and Hyundai Ioniq comes with blind spot monitor, AEB, land departure warning and others. No wonder, many mazda CX-5 and Proton X70 everywhere than looking Honda CRV is now rare.
Malaysians rather buy mazda. This comes with 5 years warranty as Honda. Bermaz service is better and they already improved their service than honda. Even CKD Mazda CX-5 looks so so but better than most Honda models. So Honda Malaysia is dead.
(Like) Proton X50.
(Dislike) Kia Seltos
Wishing for the turbo unit? Can dream on. We Malaysians always get the weakest and outdated engines.
Nice SUV
kia is too late jump into SUV market where x70 already sell more than 100k units already
Today, many SUV rear design are pretty similar.
This Seltos rear design looks no different.
The mosquitoes killer…
Screen, the screen!!! Kia, you know that you will lose many potential customer if you give the outdated screen to them!!! Please give the latest screen, at least for the GT line please! please! please!!!
Agree. I am considering the Seltos, but if they offered the India version, I’ll pass. The screen design is a deal breaker for me
This 1.4turbo Kia Seltos.
Indon only sell rm88k.
X70 here only sell rm88k.
X50 only sell rm68k
Please Kia Malaysia… please launch the korean spec version not the indian version.. if aussie can get the korean version why not us?? Furthermore the korean version also has 1.6 tgdi while indian only 1.4 … please don’t let us down kia Malaysia..
You lose me at “passive cruise control”, KIA.
Price it below RM 90,000 and we have a winner here!
This is why Hyunda/Kiai sells 8 million cars per annum globally. they know the trends and what people want. They make trendy cars that are so appealing to younger people.
Hyundai/Kia first car rolled out in 1974, just 10 years before Proton’s first car rolled out in 1984.
Yet, one company can only sell 50,000 cars locally (their own Proton cars) whilst another can sell 8 million cars globally
Fake news. Hyundai had existed back in 1957 and already a multibillion conglomerate when they went into car manufacturing and even back then they were a failure until they relied on foreign help. Even this Seltos is not designed in Korea but in USA, I do not know what their Korean designers are doing maybe finding ideas where to stick their logo.
get kia seltos, no need shieldtox ^^
on serious note, that rear roof line which floats…i guess its the ‘trendy’ design thesedays…volvo xc40, proton x50 etc
Lol, at first glance I thought the model was Goh Liu Ying. Nice if the Seltos is here.
why buy this? so many better alternatives
Wow, this car is sexy.
This is written to Malaysia Kia, you better listen. Dont omit the AEB, you can still put an old handbreak there like Indo model but dont remove the AEB. Give us the turbo engine not the 2.0 NA. This two feature are now important seller feature. If u can add on the advance safety feature like those in Korea will be better. Otherwise nobody will buy this period.
