Aeterno Condico – name of Thai sports car revealed

aeterno condico

More on the Thai sports car that’s supposed to debut in 2016. A second teaser image of the design has been released, and also revealed is the name of the car and the company that will build it – the Condico, as it’s called, will be made by a firm called Aeterno Motors, a new luxury and premium sports automaker to be based in Bangkok.

The Condico – which is set to premiere late next year – derives its name from Latin, which the company says translates to “to settle” as in “to settle a discussion or argument” or to “agree upon a conversation or topic.”

Aeterno hasn’t divulged anything else on the Condico aside from stating it will be a mid-engined premium sports car aimed at taking the fight to the likes of the Porsche 911 and the Lotus Evora, and will be priced in the region of THB 3,000,000 to 4,500,000 (USD 85,000 to 130,000) when it arrives.

The Condico is penned by Jennarong Muengtaweepongsa, who has been releasing car designs under the name VanaticalDesign (which originally teased the then-unnamed Condico last month). Among the renderings the teenager from Bangkok has made are the Aston Martin DB11 Concept, the PSC Motors SP-200 SIN, the Koenigsegg Legera Concept and the Jaguar “Envision” XK Concept, all very much digital domain offerings.

The Aeterno sports car is no pipe dream or flight of fantasy, the designer boldly says. “You hear about new startup car companies on the news daily, most become vapourware, or if they come true, they’re usually never really impressive, bring nothing new to the table, occupy a segment with no market or no one knows about it, and most are just plain badly designed or made. Well, we’re here to change that.”

Interestingly, the Condico isn’t the only vehicle mentioned in the accompanying text for the teaser image – there’s mention of a Vindico and Eradico as well, so Aeterno looks to be playing with quite a few design cards. Expect to hear more again about this one in the near future.

If it is manufactured in Thailand, then does it mean that we in ASEAN do not have to pay the duties attached to imported cars?

you forgot the fact that problem we are facing now is high excise duty, not import duty, which has already been lowered to comply with the AFTA condition. the high excise duty is purposely jacked-up to compensate for the reduction of the import duties so that Msian govt can continue to receive more or less the same amount of tax.

yes. it has always been there. but it was not as high as now. it was jacked up after they lower the import duty.

          read this. http://library.perdana.org.my/Digital_Content/Prominent_Leaders/Mahathir/News_1968-2004/2001-2005/nt2003pz/prices%20of%20natio.pdf

          20/01/2003
Prices of national cars may increase up to 11pc (HL)
          Zuraimi Abdullah
CAR buyers in Malaysia may have to pay up to 11 per cent more for national
makes under a new structure of excise duties that will be implemented
          this year.
Industry observers said the Government will raise excise duties,
possibly by as much as 15 per cent, to offset a cut in import tariffs
          for completely-knocked-down (CKD) packs

so, it is obvious the reduction of Import Duty is meaningless if the Msian Govt is allowed to legally play around with the Excise Duty. the Msian public should be more well-informed.

I’m wondering if it’s available to the Malaysian market. If sportscar with good performance at a cheaper price , it will sell well. The sketch designs looks nice however have to see a built prototype first. The Thais are doing amazingly well in the autoworld.
