BMW M2 CS to get the S55 M3 engine with 400 hp?

BMW M2 Coupe M Performance Parts 1

Rumours are abound that a BMW M2 CS model, with CS standing for ClubSport, is in the works. Better yet, the hardcore baby M will apparently upgrade its own N55 engine to the M3 and M4’s M-bespoke S55 motor, and it’ll likely go on sale in 2018, according to Bimmer Post, citing a reliable inside source.

However, it has been suggested than the M2 CS will not get the full-fat 425 hp and 550 Nm output of the M3/M4, and instead get a version downtuned to 400 hp and around 500 Nm. That will still be a healthy increase over the standard M2’s 370 hp and 465 Nm.

An M2 with an S55 engine isn’t entirely a new idea, though. German tuner Dähler already offers such a machine, with the engine even uptuned to 540 hp and 730 Nm. It’s said to go from 0-100 km/h in under four seconds, on to 320 km/h. The standard car does 4.3 seconds and 250 km/h (limited).

What do you think of this news, folks?

Any engine that can be down-tuned can be up-tune. That S55 engine is a Stonker & can be tuned higher(more than 500 HP) in the hands of a good tuner & with reliability to boot.

If an Merc AMG/Porsche 2.0 liters can be tuned to 400 HP, I can’t see why BMW cannot. My only question is why only go on sale in 2018 ??
