Depending on application, the BMW i8 is perhaps not the most obvious candidate for a stunt vehicle. In this case, however, this particular stunt involves a jump, though not by the car. Here, what’s presumed to be a stuntman runs towards the moving i8 and attempts not just a jump, but one combined with a forward flip. Daunting, to say the least.
It isn’t clear how the correct approach speed and timing of the stuntman’s jump was determined. According to the video caption, the i8 holds a steady 100 km/h – well within its total reserves of 362 hp and 570 Nm – as the jumper looms large in its windscreen, clearly eliciting a reaction from both the i8’s occupants. The stuntman clears the i8 with the full rotation of the forward flip, landing with steady footing.
