The Mitsubishi Outlander range is now completely locally-assembled and is available in two flavours, the 2.0 (RM140k) and 2.4 (RM155k). What we have here is the 2.4 CKD, which is cheaper by RM16,000 over the CBU model it replaces. As usual, the seven-seater SUV comes with a five-year/100,000 km warranty.
Under the bonnet is the same 2.4 litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 167 PS at 6,000 rm and 222 Nm of torque at 4,100 rpm. It’s paired to the INVECS-III CVT and Mitsubishi’s Multi-Select four-wheel drive system with 4WD Eco, 4WD Auto and 4WD Lock modes. Mitsubishi claims a fuel consumption figure of 12.8 km per litre.
The kit count here remains largely unchanged – LED headlights, paddle shifters, powered sunroof, electric parking brake, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and a powered tailgate remain, as per the CBU unit. Also on are fog lights (halogen), LED combination tail lights, keyless entry, push-button start, auto lights and wipers and dual-zone auto climate control.
The 2.4 can be differentiated visually by the new 18-inch eight-spoke two-tone alloy design (the previous design is available on the 2.0) and a tailgate spoiler. New to it is the 2-DIN head unit (shared with the 2.0) with a seven-inch touchscreen, supporting Apple CarPlay and Air Gesture Control as well. A 360-degree surround-view monitor has also been added for good measure.
For colours, the 2.4 can be had in the same exact palette as the 2.0, beginning with the Ruby Black (available only on the PHEV model in other countries), Red Metallic and Solar White. The Grey Metallic paint option has been dropped from the list. Looking to sell your car? Sell it with myTukar.
i will buy this car
got sunroof
gonna buy too
same my color
Sunroof? Malaysia is damn hot…anyway, no need to sell so cheap, ur car can’t sell well is because no rear air-cond vents, u still don’t get it? Besides, the rear door opening angle is too small for 3rd row passengers to get into the car….get it?
Value for money…rm140kband seven seater some more unlike that crv…becoz nobody wants 7 seater said that smart people at honda…bravo mitsubishi…you nail it
Habis la boyue..
Dressed up dinosar. Habis la Outlander…
Rm155k is still very expensive for Malaysian standards. We Malaysians are waiting for the 30% car price reduction promised by our beloved Government 5 years ago.
Don’t forget, according to EPF statistics, 76.3% of all its contributors only earn RM1500 and below. That is how low Malaysians earn
According to World Bank simulations, Malaysia is projected to achieve high-income status as early as 2020.
The World Bank’s Malaysia Economic Monitor report published on Thursday (Dec 15) showed that Malaysia is projected to exceed the threshold that defines high-income economy status at some point in the period from 2020 to 2024.
The World Bank currently defines high-income economies as those whose gross national income (GNI) per capita stands at US$12,236 (RM49,916.76) or more.
In 2017, Malaysia’s average GNI per capita is estimated to stand at US$9,660 (RM39,407.97), just short of US$2,576 (RM10,508.79) of the defined threshold level.
The World Bank also projects Malaysia’s economy to continue at a strong pace of 5.2% in 2018, which is slightly slower compared with the expected 5.8% growth this year.
The World Bank raised its 2017 growth estimate for Malaysia’s economy to 5.8%, which would be the highest annual growth rate since 2014.
It had previously projected a growth of 5.2% in October, and this is the third time the World Bank revised the growth forecast for Malaysia this year.
So tax the rich no problemo.
Shocking only RM15,000 for CKD. Our Ringgit has appreciated to the USD. Last time it was 4.4. Now 3.9. This alone will give about RM20k in savings if the CBU is brought in.
So we kena double whammy. Get CKD car and not CBU and also just get RM15k less.
I think if you factor the exchange rate alone and CKD, it should be RM40k less
Equipment list is impressive but the fact that they don’t have second row air conditioner makes X-trail a better proposition
X-trail with only 2 airbags. A better proposition?
mazda cx5 better lo
The only thing i dont like about this car is the engine is still using 2.4 4b12 from 10 years old car and it is definetely not fuel efficiency as i drove lancer ex before. So wait for next facelift!
Not just the engine, the entire platform is 10 years old. Another dressed up dinosar like Viosaurus.
The looks, the technology, engine and gearbox are all from 10 years ago. 222nm for a big suv coupled with a cvt gearbox. At rm 155k id take the sorento turbo diesel with 200ps 440nm proper 6 speeder with fuel consumption of honda city. Forget RV coz this mitsu doesnt hold it resale value either
i rather choose ckd mazda cx5 or nissan xtrail , 2nd gen skyactive engine and japanese car too. kimchi is not worth to buy in malaysia, too overpriced.
If u like slow cx5 or xtrail just becoz they are japanese pls go ahead. Just make way to these 440nm beast on the highway. Btw tell me which part of the sorento is overprice? The power is of equivalent to 25D from bmw or 250D from merc range that is x5 25d or the gle 250d rm450k and the nearest rival is the cx9 at rm280k
Rather go for Boyue at half the price. At least its platform is newer.
Cannot compare Sony to Akira. Cannot compare Japanese establishmed brand to Boyue.
Some tried to compare Sony pongs with Huawei pongs. Well, see where r they now. Sony not even reach Vivo level.
Yep. This dinosour doesnt even have adaptive cruise control (ACC). Boyue has. Come on Mitsubishi. Eventhough the new CRV is a CVT car, it has Honda Sensing (with ACC)
Imagine stuck in traffic jam in hot and sunny day…pity the little guys at the back!!! No rear aircond vents!! Even B segment car got rear aircond vents nowadays…
Many 7seater owners fold down the 3rd row. Often carry cargo than ppl…. XC90, Xtrail, BRV
If only, it comes with 2.0 turbo with 220hp and above. I’m pretty sure it will sell like a hot cake. Even if the price is slightly upped to between RM 170k-180k
All the specs given are marvelous and generous.
Turbo with CVT? Huh. Mcm Preve, Civic la. Mau potong kereta, bunyik/RPM naik dulu. Pigi lambat. Why oh why Japanesse prefer CVT.
For that range already got sorento 2.2 turbo diesel 200ps/443nm 6 speed. Better interior fit n finish, more refined and better NVH. Problem in msia people dismiss it due to it being a korean car. Other part of the world like in australia it is on par with cx9
Wasn’t impressed by the interior design when I had a look at it in the flesh. Drivetrain is also a little outdated to similar N/A engines like the Skyactives from Mazda. Kit count is fantastic nonetheless.
No Android Auto? Well that’s a disappointment.
my god, hp167 torque 222? just enough power to run? imagine we use ron 95, how much power can get? if the power like santa fe, no any problem to get one.
It’s 2018 already. Why do people still live under the cave and think that Octane Number equals to power?
The skies are beautiful; come out from your cave.
Syukur, malaysia’s car prices still affordable to many ppl.
CVT? Booooo! Try tow a car. The life of the tranny will shorten for sure. Not just this car. Booooo too the new CRV, X-Trail, Subaru and any car with CVT. Slow and whiny during steep acceleration.
Hi Matthew, do you know what is the towing capacity of this car? I know, Malaysian doesnt even bother with towing car. Kereta rosak, panggil tow truck la. But, just for purely academic, can you get the figure? Put it side by side with a proper stepped transmission car like e.g. Harrier. That is an interesting topic to put inside Paultan.org next time.
More kit , lower price
Bmw malaysia can learn a thing or two
Sorento Diesel and even the petrol version is a much better purchase…
CBU, way bigger and more spacious, more power and gets better fc…. also AC vents for each occupants… This outlander is an outdated car from 2012…
