2018 Toyota Vios on sale in Malaysia, RM75k-RM94k – up to RM2,512 off, ang pow worth RM988 for CNY

The 2018 Toyota Vios that was announced four weeks ago is now officially on sale. From now till end-February, customers who purchase the new Vios can save up to RM2,512 and get an ang pow worth RM988, plus free accessories. The offer is for selected variants only, while stocks last.

To recap, pricing for the updated Vios range starts from RM74,980 for the 1.5 J (MT), RM77,980 for the 1.5 J (AT), RM81,980 for the 1.5 E, RM87,980 for the 1.5 G, RM90,980 for the 1.5 GX and RM93,980 for the range-topping 1.5 TRD Sportivo. As with all Toyota models, each variant of the Vios comes with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty.

Now, what exactly is new with the 2018 Vios? For starters, G, GX and TRD Sportivo all get front parking sensors as standard, a feature Toyota claims to be a first in its class. A new DVD-AVX entertainment system with enhanced features is also on – it’s linked to a reverse camera on all variants except the Vios J MT and AT.

All variants of the Vios get shark fin antenna (the TRD variant is finished in gloss black) and illuminated steel scuff plates (except for the 1.5 J). The footwell lighting for all variants is now white in colour – only the TRD gets it in amber.

Other accessories such as the Panoramic View Monitor, dash-cam recorder and a more advanced seven-inch DVD-AVN infotainment display can be specified and included in the hire purchase loan. Vios J owners on the other hand, can choose to upgrade to the DVD-AVX 6.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, HDMI and reverse camera functions.

Mechanically, the Vios is unchanged. Under the bonnet is the same 2NR-FE 1.5 litre Dual VVT-i unit, with variable valve timing on both intake and exhaust valves. It produces 107 PS at 6,000 rpm and 140 Nm at 4,200 rpm, with drive channeled to the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with a seven-speed Sport Sequential Shiftmatic manual mode.

Safety-wise, the airbag count stays at two, but active safety features such as Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and traction control are standard on all variants, in addition to ABS with EBD, Brake Assist and Isofix rear child seat anchors.

The Vios can be had in six exterior colours, from Silver Metallic, Medium Silver Metalic, Attitude Black Mica, Crimson Spark Red Metallic, Super White II and White Pearl CS (the last one is only for the TRD Sportivo).

For a detailed comparison of the variants, check out the 2018 Toyota Vios at Carbase.my.

Government gave EEV tax rebate to UMW to be passed down to the rakyat via cheaper prices in 2017.

The Vios supposed to be about RM10k cheaper.

But prices went up pulak. Thank you UMW!!!!!!

The poor really suffer cause the rich are enjoying their RM300k less EEV tax rebate on their BMW 740Le, BMW x5 40e, Mercedes S400h, Mercedes E350e and BMW 530e

Pls be wise and buy a 2018 Myvi. For RM50k you get exactly the same engine as the 2018 Toyota Vios with 100x more safety features

Plus the Myvi is more spacious.

The Vios is using 2NR-FE, Perodua’s version is a lower cost 2NR-VE. Notice that Indonesia’s daihatsu eco car also using VE derivative. Low cost butn less refined (notice engine noise in nyvi is louder than the Vios despite the former having so called accoustic windshield?).

“Front parking sensor, 1st for its class”. For B-segment below RM100K in Malaysia, it is probably the first because I don’t see it on Honda City, Nissan Almera, Mazda 2 nor Kia Rio. In that case, it is correct then.

Compromised safety? Let’s see. In terms of AHSS (steels of approx. 1000Mpa up to 1500Mpa tensile strength) usage percentage, Kia/Hyundai cars have at least 50% AHSS content across the board, from the small vehicles like the Picanto all the way up to the large models like their SUVs and D-segment cars.

Honda uses at least 20% AHSS, primarily for the passenger cell areas. Proton uses a similar quantity.

Toyota cars that are sold here on the other hand have 0% AHSS steels. They’re still using dual-phase steels and UHSS.

Different between airbags and rear DISC brake,1) is important tool for safety when accident happens and 2) good brake to prevent. So, 1)useful when happened and 2)preventive .. I agree, QUALITY matter, not quantity that’s matter the most..

Rubbish.. all cars have brake bias of 70-80% of brake force to the front brakes. Rear brakes is not so crucial and disc brakes only have the advantage of better fade resistance due to better cooling.

94K for a Vios…, what the… for god sake don’t buy it. You can go for Renault capture which has 120 psi and higher torque. Its much more fun and attractive than this moving refrigerator. Else go to a Peugeot center get the 2008 SUV selling cheap for CNY, it has a 1.2 liter engine only but still has more hp than the vios. Else try to ask them if there is still the previous 408 model available at the RM90 K price range or less. Don’t look at the shape and color…go for performance, better engine and safety tech instead, this will matter in the long run. Vios is suppose to be a beginners car but at even 74K its grossly expensive. They have 6 price tags for the same car, goes to show how much they are trying to milk the peoples money from all salary range and the best part you get the same engine and power. If you really want to insist Asian brand go for Kia Cerato. If really want to get the Vios just get it, later want to overtake safely other car even Myvi oso not enough power.
