Honda Small RS Concept premieres in Indonesia

Honda has given its Small RS Concept its world premiere at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2018, which began today. The small car platform study, designed by Honda’s R&D Asia Pacific centre in Thailand, could well be providing hints of how the next-gen Brio will shape up.

The bold-looking hatch is identical in size to the Brio and features a front end that borrows cues from the Mobilio facelift, especially the RS version. Similarities continue with the choice of the showcar’s exterior shade – the metallic orange hue is reminiscent of that on the Mobilio RS and Brio RS models.

As with existing Honda models, the RS moniker means that it features sportier design elements, and these include plenty of blackened bits. Prominent cues abound, from the front hood vent and large rear spoiler to the gloss black five-spoke alloys and a striking rear diffuser. No tech details, with the company simply saying that the vehicle is targeted at young-at-heart customers who value a sense of sporty driving.

According to PT Honda Prospect Motor president director Takehiro Watanabe, the concept is the company’s vision of what a small sporty car should be. What do you think? Is it sporty enough? Share your thoughts in the comments section.

Everything also launch in Indonesia and Thailand. Why nobody launch anything in Malaysia and our KLIMS?

We also got something like this. It was called Global Small Car or GSC.

Unfortunately, no one globally wants to buy it.

    • But apparently the biggest automaker in the world (oops no longer Toyota), bought it.

GSC is what Mitsubishi call the Mirage/Attrage. Total sales of Mitsubishi together with the Renault Nissan Alliance makes them the biggest automotive group in 2017.

Honda Malaysia should bring in the Brio as its volume seller. If priced from 45-60k price range, the Brio can even give the Myvi a run for its money. Yes, the Brio is in A-segment and smaller than the Myvi but Honda’s badge and excellent interior packaging will be enough to attract buyers.

If kia picanto is sold here at RM50k there is no reason why honda is not able to sell this at RM50k max. Wonder how good would this car drives & handle if honda put in a 1 litre turbo engine with a cvt or a manual gear box.

  • Indonesia is a big market in South East Asia, over 1 million cars sales every year. We don’t have own brand like Malaysia, but we produce ‘own taste’ like Avanza, Innova, Ertiga and some other models (the last one Mitsubishi Xpander). Most good respond in the market sale include export market. That’s why so many car makers compete to make and produce their car in Indonesia, and our models acceptance in many country. even in Malaysia Proton use Ertiga. Sorry to say, Malaysia car cannot fight in many country include Indonesia, really poor! or we can say Malaysia car only ‘Jago Kandang’

  • Indonesia till now don’t have own brand like Malaysia, but our whole cars sale over 1 million every year. Compare with Malaysia only 500k, we’re number one car sales in South East Asia. And we make ‘Indonesia taste’ such as, Avanza, Innova, New Ertiga, Xpander and many more. most of the car also selling in may other country include Malaysia with a good number of sale. That’s why so many car maker compete to produce n make a car in Indonesia as a promise market. And we already export to many country till middle east n Africa. Sorry to say, Malaysia car can’t compete in outside of their country, even In Indonesia, that you said third world car sale country, very poor car sale in abroad. or if I can say, Malaysia car only “jago kandang”. Ouh ya, one thing.. Proton also using Ertiga for one of they line product? so, who’s the third world car sale?
