The weekend is nearly here, and so is the paultan.org Auto Car Expo (ACE) 2024, co-sponsored by Carro and Time Energy’s Emit Solar! You’ll be swamped by irresistible deals from an avalanche of brands from October 26-27 at the Setia City Convention Centre, so be there or be square!
Volvo will be there, represented by both Sime Darby Swedish Auto and Sisma Auto. Cash rebates of up to RM25,000 will be offered for the C40 Recharge, XC60 Recharge and XC90 Recharge, so if you’ve been eyeing any of these svelte Swedish SUVs, strike while the iron is hot!
Updated for 2024, the C40 Recharge now has a larger 82 kWh battery so that it can travel 550 km on a full charge. You’ll also charge faster – at 200 kW DC, you’ll go from 10%-80% SoC in just 27 minutes. The front electric motor now produces 159 PS; throw in the 249 PS rear motor and you get 408 PS and 670 Nm of torque altogether. Also new are 19-inch five-spoke black diamond cut alloys, Pixel LED matrix headlamps and adaptive high beam.
Want something a little bigger? Check out the XC60 Recharge, which comes in T8 Ultimate flavour. The PHEV unites a 317 PS/400 Nm 2.0 litre turbo four-cylinder engine, a 145 PS/309 Nm rear electric motor, a 18.8 kWh battery and an eight-speed auto to yield a total output of 462 PS and 709 Nm. The century sprint is done in 4.8 seconds, combined fuel consumption can be as low as 1.6 l/100 km and as per the 2024 update, the on-board charger can provide up to 6.4 kW with two- or three-phase charging (three hours to full).
Bigger still? With seven seats? Enter the XC90 Recharge. It’s also in T8 Ultimate form so you get the same powertrain as the XC60 Recharge, but you’ll still do 0-100 km/h in a quick 5.3 seconds and return a combined fuel consumption as low as 1.8 l/100 km. The flagship Volvo has lots of toys, including 19 Bowers & Wilkins speakers powered by 1,400 watts, a nine-inch vertical touchscreen, quad-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a head-up display and Active Chassis with four-corner air suspension. Nice.
You’ll also see BYD, Toyota, Proton, Perodua, Ford, Mitsubishi and MG at ACE 2024, along with Pro-Net’s eMas electric sub-brand.
Also joining are BMW/MINI (via Auto Bavaria), Mercedes-Benz (through Hap Seng Star), smart and Audi (represented by EON), Peugeot and Leapmotor (courtesy of Cycle & Carriage). BMW Motorrad will showcase its two wheelers while Trapo will exhibit its Exosystem product range.
