Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has announced that it is trialling the use of articulated buses on four routes over four months, and this will be held on one route for a duration of one month each.

The first route will be GOKL 01 that runs from KLCC to Bukit Bintang over a distance of 7 km, with a frequency of one hour at peak times, and one hour 30 minutes at off-peak times. This will run from January 1 to 31.

The third route is GOKL 08 that will run from MRT Kampung Batu to Chow Kit, with the longest route distance of the quartet at 20.3 km. Bus frequency is every two hours at peak times and two hours 30 minutes at off-peak times, and GOKL 08 will run from March 1 to 31.

The fourth route is the GOKL 10 connecting route that will run from Terminal Maluri to Chow Kit over a distance of 17 km, with a frequency of two hours at peak times and two hours 30 minutes at off-peak times. The GOKL 10 connecting route will run from April 1 to 30.

At the same time, DBKL is conducting research on the effectiveness of articulated buses on these routes. The trial is to determine the effectiveness of the service from the consumers’ perspective, including aspects such as wait times, comfort, destination requirements as well as other relevant needs, DBKL stated.

According to DBKL, the data gathered in this trial will be used in determining the suitability of the vehicles being trialled, based on the views of the public (a QR code is provided in the image above). As above, the trial will run until April 30, 2025.

DBKL statement is a little unclear but the bus frequency listed is for the articulated bus only.

The routes individually are more frequent with other buses being used as well.

  • Drivers are chatting away at terminal stops instead of driving. So dbkl can reduce number of buses working full time if tgese stops are eliminated. Plus these drivers cannot speak english and very Rude to tourists and foreigners. Now that commuters must scan tng/ ic cards, the boarding has slowed. Why is dbkl in the transportation business In the first place? When it was free, it was good.but now not so.

Brace for more JAM! With the narrow road in kv, regular bus size already find it difficult to manoeuvre. Can u just do more enforcement to remove car/taxi park at roadside especially infront of pavillion KL??
