We’re officially just five days away from the paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE), co-sponsored by Carro and RHB Bank, returning for its 2025 instalment to the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC) this weekend, July 19 and 20 from 9am to 7pm. Making its debut at this year’s event is GAC, which is entering with a bang with the preview of its latest model, the GAC Emkoo.
This forthcoming C-segment SUV complements the smaller GS3 Emzoom and is CKD locally assembled at the same plant in Segambut. It’s due to be launched soon, with bookings set to be opened at PACE for the two Premium and Premium Pro variants. Power comes from a 177 PS/270 Nm 1.5 litre turbocharged and direct-injected (TGDI), mated with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.
You’ll certainly turn heads in this car, thanks to the distinctive chiselled design inspired by the giant mecha robots in Japanese sci-fi anime. The future-forward design continues on the inside, with more angular design cues, tubular air vents, a 10.25-inch digital instrument display and a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
It’s practical, too, with a quoted 638 litres of boot space expandable to 1,586 litres with the rear seats folded. You also get Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and Full Autonomous Parking Assist (FAPA) for stress-free parking and highway driving. Best of all, you’ll be able to test out these features and more, thanks to test drives available at PACE.
Of course, GAC is just one of the myriad of brands being showcased at PACE 2025 – BMW and MINI (both represented by Auto Bavaria), Mercedes-Benz (represented by Hap Seng Star), Audi, BYD, Denza, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Xpeng, GWM and Zeekr will all be participating in the event. Two-wheelers will also be present in the shape of BMW Motorrad, while Kineta and Trapo will also be showing their wares.
