• MyTukar opens new showrooms in Penang, Melaka, Johor – 30 retail and inspection outlets nationwide

myTukar has opened three new showrooms in Penang, Melaka and Johor respectively. The move is aimed at enhancing its physical presence and services across the country, opening up a more transparent and trustworthy car-buying experience to more Malaysians.

All three showrooms are strategically situated at central locations for better accessibility. Built-up area of these showrooms range from 4,000 sq ft to over 180,000 sq ft, and are capable of accommodating and displaying up to 500 vehicles. With these new additions, myTukar now has a total of 30 outlets nationwide.

Financing and after-sales services such as servicing and tinting are also available. As usual, all vehicles are subject to stringent 160-point inspections before they are put on sale. myTukar can also deliver newly purchased cars to its customer’s doorstep for a truly end-to-end car buying experience.

Derrick Eng, CEO of myTukar said, “this strategic move is aimed at catapulting myTukar’s growth to greater heights. The new showrooms cover untapped regional locations and extend our offerings and services to an even wider audience. In line with our rebranding efforts, we are committed to providing our customers with nothing less than excellence and efficiency.”

Recently, myTukar rebranded itself by adopting an orange corporate identity (CI), a move to further reflect its position as part of the larger Carro network.

Incidentally, the Singapore-based used car marketplace company had just recently reported its first profitable financial year, with more than SGD650 million (RM2.1 billion) in revenue. In the process, gross profit in the year ending March 2022 also doubled.

With 2.5 times growth and record gross profits, Carro co-founder and CEO, Aaron Tan, said the company is on track for a 10% increase in gross profit margins by the end of the current financial year. Last year, Carro secured over USD100 million (RM456 million) in funding from investors, including Singapore state investor Temasek Holdings and Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) in Malaysia.

More recently, Carro also bagged USD360 million (RM1.64 billion) in Series C funding, with Sime Darby amongst the investors. With a presence in Singapore, Malaysia (through myTukar), Thailand, and Indonesia, the company is looking to expand to Taiwan and Japan this year.

  • Take delivery of your vehicle in style with the myTukar Truck – the showroom experience at your doorstep

You may have seen its kind before – trucks which, on first glance appear like most other commercial haulers, but soon reveal themselves to be a means of delivering a passenger car to its owner. These have typically been the domain of brand new vehicles, and for new luxury cars in particular, though now myTukar aims to bring the same polish and sense of occasion to its buyers of used vehicles.

At myTukar, every customer is special to the company, which is the reason behind creating a means of bringing the showroom to the customer should they prefer to take delivery of their vehicle purchase at another location of their choosing, in order to maintain the sense of occasion one gets from collecting a vehicle from the showroom.

This enables the creation of a unique vehicle delivery experience, as myTukar believes that buying a pre-owned vehicle should not deny customers the privilege of celebrating their purchase like they would with buying a brand new car.

All myTukar certified vehicles in its inventory have undergone a stringent, 160-point inspection, as well as any required repairs, parts replacement, cleaning and repainting should the corrective work be required, bringing refurbishment of the vehicle as close to perfection as possible towards ensuring the customers’ safety and satisfaction of ownership.

As shown here, the flatbed truck carries an enclosure for the precious payload that is the customer’s purchase, and both sides of the enclosure feature windows that are of nearly full height and length; reminiscent of the packaging for scale model cars that allow a view of the product before unboxing.

It is through these clear panels that the customer gets to take in the view of their incoming car, as well as the care that has gone into preparing their latest vehicular purchase for delivery to their doorstep.

For this white Perodua Myvi, as it will also be for myTukar deliveries, its wheels are securely tied down with ratchet straps, as the car itself is parked on the treadplated flatbed ramp that lowers to the road surface for smooth loading and unloading.

Of course, the customer won’t have missed the myTukar delivery truck coming or going, as it will be decked out in the firm’s latest rebranding that carries its very visible orange signature colour. However your day may have been going, the myTukar truck delivery of your vehicle to your driveway will surely add some spring to your step.

  • myTukar launches orange rebranding at myTukar Auto Fair 2022 – CI aligned with parent company Carro

Used car platform myTukar has rebranded itself today, adopting a new orange corporate identity to reflect its strengthened branding and capabilities as part of the regional Carro network. The relaunch took place at the myTukar Auto Fair 2022, happening at the myTukar Retail Experience Centre in Puchong South from now until July 3.

The new CI aligns myTukar with Carro, its parent company based in Singapore, as the latter works to become the #1 used car marketplace in Southeast Asia. The rebranding will be followed by a number of changes for myTukar, including a new flatbed truck fleet for door-to-door customer deliveries and the first campaign powered by Carro rolling out in the coming months.

“With our collective effort as a company, alongside our partners, dealers and customers who trust in our credibility, the used car industry has never been so accessible, transparent and trusted,” said myTukar CEO Derrick Eng. “The improvement to myTukar is beyond rebranding; we have integrated our capabilities, business, data intelligence and technical knowledge with our parent company, Carro, to bring even better value to our customers.”

Carro CEO and co-founder Aaron Tan added: “myTukar’s rebrand today is a renewal of the company’s commitment to delivering a world-class experience to customers, ensuring a smooth and transparent car ownership process. In aligning our brand’s identity and core values with one another, we are thrilled to be a part of myTukar’s ongoing journey.”

The rebranding comes as myTukar posted rapid nationwide growth in its digital and physical presence. Over the years, transaction volumes grew by 63% for wholesale and a staggering 260% for retail, helping to increase net revenue by 89%. The new CI is aimed at bringing the company closer to customers and prepare for increased geographical expansion, it said, helping it drive further growth and sales.

“This rebranding is our commitment to delivering customers an end-to-end purchasing experience when they decide to buy their next dream ride,” said Eng. “We are confident that with Carro’s technological support, regional presence and our experience in tackling the Malaysian market, we will be able to continue our track record of growth.”

myTukar placed large orange boxes across the country – including in the Klang Valley, Penang and at the previous myTukar Auto Fair 2022 event in Plentong, Johor Bahru – in the lead up to today’s event, with QR codes printed on them. Mobile boxes also popped up in Ipoh, Taiping, Alor Setar, Johor and Penang.

Those who scanned the codes entered themselves to be in the running to win up to RM200,000 in prizes, with higher-tier goodies being revealed the more people scanned – today, a year’s supply of petrol was announced to be among the prizes.

The move follows a steady growth in the used car market, with demand increasing by eight per cent in the first quarter of the year. The ongoing myTukar Auto Fair 2022 caters to these customers, with more than 1,000 myTukar Certified pre-owned vehicles available for the over 6,000 people expected to throng the Puchong South venue over the next three days.

Visitors will be able to receive on-the-spot trade-in values for their current vehicles, interest rates as low as 1.88% and same-day loan approval and car collection. More information can be obtained via the myTukar website, which has also been updated with the new orange CI.

  • myTukar launches new Retail Experience Centre in Plentong, Johor – hosts 3-day auto fair this weekend

Used car platform myTukar has officially launched its latest Retail Experience Centre in the country. Located in Plentong, Johor, the outlet is the company’s second in the state, the first being in Skudai. The new 184,618 sq ft facility, which features after-sales service and inspection centres, expands the company’s presence in the southern region.

In celebration of the latest addition to its network, the company is hosting a three-day automotive fair at the new retail centre. Running from today, June 17 to Sunday, June 19, the event will feature over 1,000 myTukar certified cars, ranging from national and Japanese makes to Continental and premium offerings.

Buyers will be able to enjoy access to a wide array of exclusive offers at the event, including a low 1.88% interest rate, free vouchers worth up to RM1,000 and lucky draw give-away items worth RM12,000, including an iPhone 13 and an iPad.

Additionally, as part of myTukar’s parent company Carro’s latest sports sponsorship, customers stand to win an all-expense paid trip to watch Liverpool play against Manchester United in the Bangkok Century Cup.

“Our Plentong outlet is set up to address a very unique demand from our fellow Johoreans. Also, for a state which is very big on football, we’re opening up the opportunity for customers to win an exclusive experience to watch Liverpool play Manchester United live in Bangkok,” said myTukar CEO Derrick Eng.

“While we are still focused on growing online, it is vital that we provide our customers with an ecosystem to buy and sell their vehicles with the utmost fairness. Our retail outlet aims to create an elevated experience for customers, where our product geniuses will be able to take them through a thorough inspection report and to help them understand the car that they’re about to purchase,” he added.

He invited Johoreans to visit the auto fair to better experience myTukar’s workings. “myTukar prides itself on building a trusted ecoystem to regulate used car value and enable financing, and in ensuring that a condition of a vehicle is optimal via our myTukar certified promise before it goes to a new owner,” he said.

Since its inception in 2018, myTukar has evolved into an online marketplace offering a comprehensive range of services for all aspects of car ownership. The brand’s digital platform enables users to conveniently buy or sell their vehicles from the comfort of their own homes. Connecting buyers and sellers nationwide, the brand also provides a host of after-sales services from insurance to servicing, among others.

The company added that it is set to expand its physical presence with the introduction of more showrooms nationwide. Six outlets are in the pipeline, including in Penang, Melaka and Seremban.

  • EON, myTukar, Bank Muamalat launch Step-Up Auto Financing-i – lower instalments for first three years

EON, myTukar and Bank Muamalat are working together on the new Muamalat Step Up Auto Financing-i, a tiered vehicle financing scheme offering lower instalments for the first three years. The bank says that this will assist customers in reducing the early financing cash flow burden, and own their dream vehicle.

Muamalat Step Up Auto Financing-i is exclusive for the range of Proton and Mitsubishi cars under the Edaran Otomobil Nasional (EON) network. A collaboration with myTukar means that customers can sell the vehicles to the used car specialists at the end of the three-year tenure, at a price agreed at the beginning of ownership. This is like the ‘guaranteed future value’ scheme seen elsewhere.

Although common with in-house financing from premium brands such as Mercedes-Benz and BMW, Bank Muamalat is the first bank to introduce step-up financing with guaranteed buy-back value. With Muamalat Step Up Auto Financing-i, monthly payments can be up to 33% lower compared to conventional financing, the bank says. The scheme is shariah compliant.

After three years of ownership, customers can choose to either continue monthly payments at a new rate, or exchange and sell the vehicle for a new unit through myTukar.

“We are thrilled to be working with EON and myTukar to offer financing solutions to our customers. Our vision has always been to create an end-to-end integrated on-line vehicle ecosystem; our partnership brings us one step closer, as we are able to make auto financing more affordable,” said Khairul Kamarudin, president and CEO of Bank Muamalat.

“In line with EON’s direction to lead and become an excellent automotive service provider, we believe the collaboration will further improve our market share. Being the largest Mitsubishi and Proton network operators nationwide, EON is able to offer a variety of cars from the two renowned brands. EON is offering two Mitsubishi vehicles and six Proton models for customers to choose and participate in this scheme,” said EON CEO Akkbar Danial.

“The partnership will play a major role in DRB-Hicom and Bank Mualamat’s end-to-end engagement, and therefore support their whole new car upgrade eco-system by creating a seamless car transfer channel in the form of step-up loan tenure,” said Ernest Chew, CFO of Carro, the parent company of myTukar.

“Customers who are not keen on the buy-back option at the end of the third year can come to myTukar anytime and we will offer them a competitive market rate. This bank partnership is a huge validation of our proprietary A.I-enabled vehicle residual value pricing algorithm – which we already actively deploy for our financing activities,” he added.

  • myTukar gives away Proton X70 in first contest – more prizes and new smartphone app to come this year

myTukar has just concluded its first car giveaway contest, as part of the company’s fourth anniversary celebration. The prize is a 2019 Proton X70 Executive 2WD worth over RM100k, and the lucky winner is Mohamad Ariff bin Mohamad Borhanud from Kuala Lumpur.

The contest period was from December 1 last year to January 9 this year, and over 300 participants were vying for the prize. Mohamad Ariff’s name was drawn in a recent Facebook live session.

“I was excited and overwhelmed when I found out that I won. It definitely turned my entire day around. When I was announced as the winner, I was in shock! With my budget and financial planning, I was just thinking about buying a simple Proton Satria Neo, and did not even consider the possibility that I could win a car as grand as the Proton X70,” said Ariff, 27.

“What has been even more pleasant is the condition and quality of the car. It drives great and feels brand new. I would definitely recommend everyone to get a car from myTukar, as the process was easy, and everything from A-Z was handled hassle-free and transparently,” Habibatun, Ariff’s wife said.

Commenting on the car giveaway, myTukar CEO Derrick Eng said: “The Proton X70 car giveaway has been the brand’s first contest to date, and it is awesome to see it has encouraged more people to consider buying used cars. We are thrilled and excited to present Ariff with a high quality car such as the X70.

“Customers buying their vehicles from myTukar will find the process seamless and smooth sailing, from obtaining JPJ’s approval, securing car insurance and financing options settled by myTukar’s ‘Product Geniuses’ right down to the transfer of ownership,” he said, adding that there will be more car giveaways in 2022. “We might be even giving away premium car services. More details regarding the contests and giveaways will be revealed upon the commencement of the campaigns,” he said.

myTukar is Malaysia’s fastest growing digital used car marketplace with an expanding on-ground nationwide presence. This year’s plans include the opening of six new showrooms by mid-2022, part of an overall plan that is targeting close to 25 new facilities this year, including showrooms and retail experience centres such as the flagship outlet in Puchong South. myTukar will also be launching a consumer app.

In terms of growth, myTukar claims that its digital used car platform has captured about 50% of the market. The company foresees its wholesale segment to experience a monthly growth of 10-20%, while the retail portion is expected to grow about 30-50% annually.

The experts in buying and selling used vehicles will be at PACE 2022 at Setia City Convention Centre this weekend. If you’re thinking of getting a new car but need to sell your existing car first, myTukar will handle the whole process for you, including all the paperwork and dealings with JPJ. Once the car passes their inspection, and you agree to hand over the keys, you will be paid instantly. Look them up at PACE.

  • myTukar and Daihatsu Malaysia Group partner up to enhance used car selling process in the country

Online car marketplace myTukar has announced a partnership with Daihatsu (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (DMSB), the largest dealer of Perodua vehicles and Hino commercial trucks and buses in Malaysia, and a subsidiary of the MBM Resources Berhad (MBMR) automotive group.

The partnership aims to enhance the used car selling process, with myTukar facilitating a smooth experience for all customers to sell their used cars – the partnership is expected to impact between 300 and 500 customers monthly.

“We are honoured and excited to embark on this journey with Daihatsu Malaysia Group, a giant in the Malaysian automotive sector. The collaboration will leverage myTukar’s proprietary technology-enabled platform to speed up the selling process of used cars for all Daihatsu Malaysia Group customers. With this partnership, we want to provide Daihatsu Malaysia Group customers a one-stop platform to sell their old cars and get a new one in return, instantly and transparently.” said Derrick Eng, CEO of myTukar.

Moving forward, myTukar will be a trade-in partner for Daihatsu Malaysia Group and its partners and customers, covering inspection services, collection, settlement and payment. “We believe this partnership will kick start a new phase for the brand, as the enhancement of the purchasing journey is set to boost the sales of new car purchases under Daihatsu Malaysia Group,” Eng commented.

“We are happy to be a part of this incredible effort by myTukar to enhance the new car buying experience for all Daihatsu Malaysia Group customers. With myTukar’s comprehensive and intuitive platform, customers with a used car that are looking to sell it and buy a new vehicle within our group will find the process to be smooth sailing,” said Arman Mahadi, managing director of Daihatsu Malaysia Group.

  • myTukar expanding nationwide in 2022, set to open around 25 used car showrooms across Malaysia

Online car marketplace myTukar will be expanding its on-ground presence by opening close to 25 facilities, including showrooms and retail experience centres, nationwide this year.

Besides myTukar’s digital platform, these new showrooms will be another avenue for customers to buy and sell their cars seamlessly. The company will also be opening a series of so-called retail experience centres in the style of its flagship outlet in Puchong South. This “one-stop-shop” concept provides customers with end-to-end used car services, including service and maintenance.

The locations myTukar is targeting include Perak, Kedah, Sabah, Sarawak, Penang, Klang Valley, Johor and Seremban, among other places.

“Through these expansions, we hope to establish myTukar as a community brand, a platform that stimulates the growth of the used car industry. With these physical outlets in place, we will now be able to serve our customers better, providing them even more access than ever before to a wide range of quality vehicles,” said myTukar CEO Derrick Eng.

“Our goal for 2022 is to have our experience centres established across all major towns nationwide. The brand is currently moving towards creating a customer-centric network, ensuring our users are connected, feel safe in using our platform and view us as trustworthy. As we move towards the age of mobility, we want to provide customers with better offers and a more holistic buying and selling experience,” he added.

myTukar is on a roll. The company is currently experiencing a 15-20% increase in used car sales and performance is expected to grow exponentially in 2022. This is due in part to factors such as the global semiconductor shortage, which is impacting the production of new cars, as well as the high prices of new vehicles, myTukar says.

“There is so much of the market that is left unexplored. Using this expansion as a driving force for our growth, we aim to leverage the increasing demand for used cars and expand our reach, both offline and online,” Eng added.

At the recent myTukar AutoFair 2022 – which was held at the Puchong South retail experience centre over the January 7-9 weekend – the company collected 443 bookings worth RM29 million from its inventory of more than 1,000 vehicles on display.

To ensure peace of mind for everyone present, strict SOPs were in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19, where adherence to distancing and mask use were enforced, while attendees were required to be fully vaccinated in order to be granted entry to the event. Hand sanitisers were also strategically located throughout the venue for customers’ use.

Beyond the cars on sale, the myTukar AutoFair 2022 also featured food trucks for the provision of food and beverage at the event. To top off the event’s visual presence, a turquoise balloon deployed at a height of 90 feet made sure to draw the attention of those in the vicinity to the event.

  • myTukar Retail Experience Centre at Puchong South officially launched – used car showroom, after-sales

The myTukar Retail Experience Centre at Puchong South has officially opened its doors. Located along the Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong (LDP), the launch of the flagship retail outlet was held in conjunction with the myTukar AutoFair 2022, which opens to the public today.

According to the online used car marketplace, which now has a physical presence, this flagship showroom is the first in a long line of myTukar centres that are set to open. Prior to this, the company opened an outlet in Skudai, Johor Bahru, and will have a presence in Seremban and Melaka by March 2022.

All the services that myTukar offer will be available at this flagship Retail Experience Centre. Here, you can sell your car to myTukar, test drive cars and purchase a car. There’s also an in-house after-sales service centre (well-equipped and clean workshop, we even saw a Citroen Evasion there today), inspection centre and services such as tinting. A one-stop shop, in short.

“This event marks a new beginning for myTukar. While we are still focused on growing online, the expansion of our offline operations will enable us to provide a go-to centre to check out the latest in used vehicles and serve customers with exceptional after-sales service,” said Derrick Eng, CEO of myTukar.

“Our new retail centre will be our first stepping stone towards creating a complete used car ecosystem powered by myTukar. With this new addition, our users would now have better access and experience buying or selling their cars as the new retail centre would provide users with a virtual viewing experience,” he added.

As mentioned, the official launch of the myTukar Retail Experience Centre coincides with the opening of the myTukar AutoFair 2022, which will be held at the centre from today till Sunday. With over 1,000 pre-owned cars available, it’s billed as Malaysia’s largest-ever used car sales event.

Each vehicle purchase at myTukar includes a one-year extended warranty and one year of free service – these are rare perks when in the world of used vehicles. Even if you somehow change your mind on a purchase, a five-day, money-back guarantee means that you can just return the car for a refund, no questions asked.

Plenty of offers are on hand to help sweeten the deal, such as vehicle financing interest rates from as low as 1.68%, same-day approval and vehicle collection, as well as Trapo car mats free of charge with every vehicle purchase. Terms apply for the financing and same-day approval.

In addition, if you purchase at the AutoFair, you’ll get to try your luck at the myTukar Lucky Spin Promo. Six prizes are up for grabs – a ninth-generation Apple iPad, RM888 cashback, Raytech car tint worth RM1,000, an additional one-year extended warranty, a fuel card worth RM500 or a Trapo accessory voucher worth RM500 could be yours. You’ll also be in the running to win a Proton X70 Premium from the myTukar 4th Anniversary Giveaway contest.

The myTukar Retail Experience Centre at Puchong South is located along the LDP just before the Puchong Barat toll plaza, if you’re coming from IOI Mall and Bandar Puteri. Before the toll, on your left side, it’s hard to miss. Happy hunting and good luck!
