First off, apologies for the patchy posts coming off from China; I had nightmares with the Internet there, with the speed and stability bringing back nasty memories of dial-up connection – it took about three hours to complete the upload of the couple of Great Wall posts at the end of the first day. Now back, I’ll be rounding up other stuff from the show.
Honda, in an effort to match Toyota’s triple concept outing in Beijing, premiered two concept vehicles developed for the Chinese market, called the Concept C and Concept S.
The names sound rather sedate upon first glance, but the C in this case stands for China and also Challenge and Cool, while the S translates into Stylish, Smart and Surprise, the company says.
Nothing too boring about the looks though, with the Concept C looking very much like a stretched and sleeked-out Accord on steroids – that dramatic front end won’t probably see the light of day in the production model, but much of the concept looks workable. Honda is set to develop the Concept C into a production model sometime next year.
Meanwhile, no mistaking the intent of the Concept S, a people mover in the mould of the Stream, but with more swoops and curves. Designed from the start as a hybrid offering, the Concept S will arrive in Chinese showrooms in 2013, produced and sold by Dongfeng Honda.
It won’t stop there – while the Concept S may have been developed with China as its primary market in mind, the vehicle is set to expand its presence by becoming a global offering in 2014.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
looks sooooo egg
if they bring this accord design to malaysia , sure will sell like hot cakes
the silver car will tabao any korean design
Not if Honda retains that awful taillight assembly…
That green Concept S will make a rather good Stream though.
Hey Anthony, according to many car blogs that covered this event, this new Accord like car is, according to Honda, a mid size offering.. meaning it COULD BE the new Gen10 Civic! :) It is strange that you didnt mention this.
The current Accord is already a full size car even by North American standards.. The next model will very likely to remain that size.
I sure hope the concept C will end up as the new Civic though. The OMG, fugly Gen9 Civic should be banished to the deepest hole in hell and never to be seen the light again… its a total disgrace and insult to we FD owners who spoke so highly about our cars and Honda.
Should have stated it clearer, as in Accord-like. The lines look like an Accord on steroids, but yes, size-wise the Concept C is C-segment. Only the Concept S was alluded as being a global offering, so it remains to be seen if there are plans beyond China for the Concept C.
Wait until it’s on production line. Who knows if they will do a Preve.
Unlikely if Honda is still worth its salt.
The Gen9 fugly Civic is so bad that Honda is recieving lots of complain, threaten emails and letters from ard the whole, esp so in North America where major car mags over there gave it a NOT Recommended or even the ‘Avoid’ rating…
Such ratings are often considered death notes to a car manufacturer, and unless Honda is one of those pirated China car makers who doesn’t even have any decency nor self respect, Honda will and MUST reverse the damage asap.
Have you guys wonder why the Gen9 Civic is still not being officially sold in Thailand nor Bolehland? My guess is that Honda is holding off the launch so that they can redo the car completely. Rem the Honda NA CEO promised a major redesign for 2013..less 1.5 yrs after the POS was introduced.
SG got the stocks from Japan and in extremely limited quantities. Expensive COE aside, Honda SG can’t sell the POS for nuts…:( less than 5 were sold since its intro late last yr… so far I’ve yet to see one on the road…haha
I smell Stream replacement model coming….long due already
concept s: honda stream
concept c: honda civic
it’s not civic but for sure accord will do
This is what Honda DNA’s is all about….
Wow! if the new Accord and Civic is looking that way soon, I’m sold!
Where are those cars lover? The earlier we open up the market the earlier we are able to enjoy good cars. Remove the protectionism.
If Proton got delisted, it may be worst because things will be done behind without public notice, yet the protectionism is still there.
I don’t mind to loose over rm100k for my car now, 2 years down the road, we are still able to enjoy cheaper premium cars. As well as the future generation.
Korean wheel rims design?
please lah..adoi
they finally got inspiration from korean – more fluidic design
Wow..! Dis China segment 100times bttr thn wut has been offering to us in this Bolehland..
settle the backlog of honda cars first only talk
if only honda could bring these 2 design in, and also not the most bare (empty shell) model and charge a premium..
The car look handsome..who say japanese car boring
only korean’s car owner say jap’s car are boring.
Ya correct, but how long you will have to wait for these design?? 10 or 20 years??
that awkward moment when the chinese version of honda is making more exciting cars than the thailand one
Majority….actually none of the cars in Beijing Motor Show really look outstanding. More like a hurried design or an after thoughts including Honda C and S concepts. I guess it’s such a big market in China that everybody can’t resist pitching in to get a piece of the cake.
Honda The Power of Dream. This design is Awesome.
YESLAH HONDA!!!! Back on track….now these are the kind of stuff I’ve been expecting from them….wooohoooo~!
Foo rah ! Concept C, transform and roll out ! :-D
When civic gen9 is coming out no body dare to comment LOL.
After they design better only they want to comment what a joke..
If these is the BEST Honda can do in future??? It means nothing more they can do
For me it looks boring and typical for concept/futuristic car.
proton better
