The 2014 Corvette C7 Stingray may be getting more power than we were led to believe. The highly anticipated American sports coupe was unveiled in January this year, with the convertible version following up in March. Both were said to have an estimated 450 hp and 610 Nm of torque from the new LT1 6.2 litre V8 engine. Turns out the estimation may be wrong.
Leaked brochures have been leaked on a dedicated C7 forum Corvette7, with power figures of the C7 Coupe quoted at 455 hp and 625 Nm (460 lb ft) of torque. That’s a small but healthy boost over the estimated numbers that the C7 Convertible apparently sticks with. Either way, it’s still more powerful than the outgoing car’s 430 hp and 575 Nm LS3 engine.
Final official figures will be revealed in full closer to the 2014 Corvette C7’s release date later this year. There’s still plenty of room to grow too, as these figures are only for the standard cars. The sky’s the limit come the C7-based Z06 and ZR1 models. Together with the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, American muscle cars don’t look so old school anymore do they now?
