Peugeot 2008 spied on trailer on Federal Highway

peugeot-2008-federal-2

Following the JPJ sighting a couple of weeks ago, our colleague Azree has managed to snap the Peugeot 2008 crossover being transported on the Federal Highway – according to him, the trailer proceeded to exit the highway near where all the car showrooms are located. This could mean we’re really not far away now.

Like the one we saw at JPJ, this one has 16-inch six-spoke alloys and is likely petrol-powered, since there’s no HDi badging below the 2008 tailgate badge. We guess its bonnet hides a 120 hp/160 Nm 1.6 litre VTi four-cylinder engine.

The Peugeot 2008 made its debut in February in Geneva. At 4,160 mm long, 1,740 mm wide and 1,550 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,540 mm, the 1,045-kg crossover is 96 mm taller and 200 mm longer than the 208 supermini on which it’s based, with a 25-mm higher ground clearance. The interior is largely similar to the 208’s, but the 2008 gets an interesting-looking aircraft-style handbrake.

Peugeot RV is the worst in Malaysia. My yard have turned down so many Peugeot because I scared cannot sell later. Within few months, the car can lose 40% of its value.

This car will be a great choice if it’s priced below 90k since it does not powered by turbo charged power plant.

If the price is RM108,000 or less for 2008 with 1.6 VTi engine I’m thinking of buying one to replace my 206 as a 2nd car.

no turbo but try compare with suprima/preve turbo.

      0-100kmh preve (turbo) 10.x seconds
      0-100kmh 208 (non-turbo) 10.x seconds

Is this the same size and segment as the Suzuki SX-4? 1.6 NA too.
If yes then should be around ~RM 90k

  • I love them compact SUVs! They are pretty practical. I remember the heydays of Daihatsu Feroza, Suzuki Vitara, Jimny and Kembara. Nowadays they are crossovers instead, probably for platform sharing.

I guess it’s now between Toyota Rush, Suzuku SX4 and this car. Or MINI Countryman if strictly by segment (not price). Waiting for Ford EcoSport as well.

Its impossible for this to be below 90K. The 208 3-door is RM92k so this should be a tad over RM100k

Don’t forget that Avanza 1.5 pricing is lower than Vios. The same strategy might be applied here. Let’s wait and see.

dont forget, avanza engine is cheaper than vios. plus pug definitely will throw everything in terms of safety features and comfort. definitely higher than 90k.

        • avanza is positioned and also based on a low priced vehicle. a truck chassis with an engine that only fulfils a simple purpose while the vios is positioned towards higher income earners who may not need space as the main criteria.

but as for the 208/2008, they are both positioned at the same income level but with different ownership criteria. so, the analogy of the avanza/vios vs 208/2008 may not apply here.

A kerb weight of 1045kg is damn light…it’s weight almost the same as a 91′ Honda CRX! I don’t know how they achieved that feat, barring perhaps, using perspex glass all-round or an all carbon-fibre platform…but kudos to Peugeot though.

It’s weight would be like B segment cars such asvios and saga. Plus points it may have bigger boots. But if anybody thinks that the cabin space is roomier than a persona or waja because its width is already 1740, he is wrong. It,s just slight wider than viva.go and check pug 208 interior. If one goes for spacious cabin this is not for you

it is slightly bigger than the 208. if you find the 208 small for your liking, this appears to be a decent ‘slightly bigger than 208’ hatchback.
