I was passing by a familiar stretch of road at moderate speeds. It was pretty dark but I wasn’t expecting any surprises. Suddenly, a loud and sickening thump shook the car to its core – I had run over a deep pothole that I swear wasn’t there a day before! The impact had caused irreparable sidewall damage, so I had to shell out for two new tyres to replace a pair that still had plenty of life. True story.
The above scenario may or may not have happened to you before, but the probability of it happening is there no thanks to our poorly maintained roads. Goodyear listened, and has come up with the Goodyear Worry Free Assurance programme, designed to provide drivers with greater peace of mind while on the road.
The Worry Free Assurance programme sees Goodyear provide replacement tyres on selected products for road hazard damage that is beyond repair, caused by puncture, cut, bruise or impact during the course of normal driving on a maintained road. With a validity period of six months from the date of purchase, tyres can be replaced at the outlet where they were purchased.
First launched in October 2013 for the Goodyear Assurance TripleMax tyre, the programme has now been extended to four more tyre patterns. They are the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2, Eagle F1 Directional 5, Eagle EfficientGrip and EfficientGrip SUV.
“We are confident in the quality of our Goodyear products and we want our customers to be as well, which is why we are delighted to expand the range of tyres covered under our Worry Free Assurance programme. We understand that sometimes mishaps occur, and this programme is here to help when they do,” said Ivy Peng, MD of Goodyear Malaysia.
“Our Worry Free Assurance programme offers purchasers a free tyre replacement for damages caused by road hazards when the tyre tread depth is at more than 6.7 mm. For road hazard damages that occur within 5.5 to 6.6 mm of the tyre tread depth, a partial credit will be issued for use in the purchase of a new Goodyear tyre of the same size and design,” she explained.
