Chevrolet has launched the Chevrolet Colorado High Country in Thailand. The new variant will be the Colorado pick-up truck‘s range topper for Thailand and the region, taking on the Ford Ranger Wildtrak. The “High Country” nameplate is borrowed from Chevrolet’s top-level full-size pickup truck sold in North America and plushest mid-size truck in Brazil.
“They also want to stand out in a crowd. For them, High Country is not going to be just a great work truck, it’s also a great lifestyle statement that says a lot about them and their will to succeed,” said Marcos A. Purty, MD of GM Thailand and Chevrolet Sales Thailand, describing the High Country customer.
Exterior enhancements include “Dark Chrome Mask” headlamps, dual-tone light grey and black grille and nudge bar, and a glossy B-pillar veneer. Further separating it from the pack are transverse roof-rack bars, a stylised sports bar, chromed rear-door belt-line molding, and mirror scalps. Completing the look is a chromed/blackened tailgate handle and 18-inch wheels.
Inside, the driver’s seat comes with electrically-powered six-way adjustments, while all seats are finished in “Brown Stone” leather, which is also used in the Trailblazer SUV. The dashboard, center console and steering wheel gets glossy piano black trim. The High Country also features smartphone connectivity, navigation and a reverse camera.
Powering the truck is GM’s second-generation Duramax 2.8 litre turbodiesel engine, with 200 hp and 500 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. Both 2WD and 4WD models are available, priced at 969,000 baht (RM108,843) and 1.029 million baht (RM115,583) respectively. The Colorado rolls out from GM’s Rayong plant, which will stop production of the B-segment Sonic sedan and hatchback to focus on trucks and SUVs.
