In conjunction with Awal Muharram, a total of seven major roads in Kuala Lumpur will be closed tomorrow morning, the police told Bernama. This is to make way for the the national-level Ma’al Hijrah procession, organised by the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (Jakim). The temporary closure will start from 6.30am, and reopened to the public from 9am onwards.
Roads slated for the two-and-a-half hour closure include, Jalan Parlimen, Jalan Tun Perak, Jalan Raja at Dataran Merdeka, Jalan Hishamuddin, Bulatan Hishamuddin, Jalan Bangsar and Jalan Perdana, according to Kuala Lumpur traffic investigation and legal staff officer DSP S. Markandan.
Those who are partaking in the procession are to assemble at five locations: Masjid Jamek at Jalan Tun Perak, Padang Merbok, Dataran Merdeka, Muzium Kesenian Islam at Jalan Perdana and Muzium Negara. From there, they can make their way to Masjid Negara on foot.
