Alfa Romeo Giulia – images of standard sedan surface

Alfa Giulia Base-02

Hello, Giulia! Images of the Alfa Romeo Giulia have surfaced on the Net ahead of an expected debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Haven’t we seen the Giulia already? That was the high-performance 510 hp Giulia Quadrifoglio that was unveiled to much fanfare in June 2015; this is the standard Giulia that Alfa hopes will bring in the numbers.

Still looks good, doesn’t it? The normal Giulia loses the Quadrifoglio’s assortment of vents and scoops (at the sides of the front bumper, on the bonnet, ‘gills’ on the front wings), does without the sports sedan’s body extensions (front lip, sills, spoiler) and has two less pipes and no mega diffuser, but much that was good on the M3-chaser is present – in a classier package that appears slimmer.

This writer prefers the pared-down look of the normal Giulia, how about you?

This trio of images show off three sets of wheels with very different designs – multi-spoke, turbine and classic Alfa telephone-dial style. A glass roof is also visible in the rear shot. Carscoops reports that the rear-wheel drive Alfa will be powered by a 2.0 litre petrol engine in 180 hp, 250 hp and 330 hp states of tune; and a 2.2 litre diesel offered in 135 hp, 180 hp and 210 hp form. We’ll know for sure soon enough.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) boss Sergio Marchionne has said that the Giulia will enter production this month, after an initial delay. More on FCA’s revised plan for Alfa Romeo, which contains abandoned targets and product rollout delays, here.

Looks like the succesor to the Mitsubishi Evo model – high performance with a matching Lancer for the regular folks. Good strategy

What is missing from the front trapezoidal grille though is the chromed horizontal lines which is historically very much part of Alfa’s Design DNA. That’s a huge shame, as it would make the entry/executive version of the Giulia looks a lot classier. With just the meshed-type grille, it looks as racy as the Quadrifoglio. Shame..

I’ve always liked the ones penned by Bertone and Pininfarina more, but not so much Giulia.
The one with multi-spoke rims is the best of the lot.

Agree the Quadrifoglio’s version looks like crap.

330hp from a 2.0 engine….excellent but more interested to see how many miles it can go per gallon.
