Berjaya China Motors has just launched the Chana Era Star II pick-up and van. The pick-up comes in a single cab or double cab form and a total of six variants – wooden body, steel body, box, luton, pasar malam van and mobile cafe. The Era Star II van is available as a panel or semi-panel van.
Starting with the single cab pick-up, it measures in at 4,560 mm long, while the double cab is a little longer at 4,660 mm. Width, height and wheelbase are the same at 1,620 mm, 1,890 mm and 2,900 mm respectively. The single cab’s deck length and width measures 2,750 mm and 1,520 mm, respectively, while the double cab’s deck comes in shorter at 2,060 mm in length.
The single cab variant weighs a total of 1,070 kg and the double cab at 1,160 kg (kerb weight). The former has a payload capacity of 950 kg and 650 kg for the latter.
As for the vans, they both measure in at 3,980 mm long, 1,620 mm wide and 1,890 mm high. The panel van has a cargo space of 2,010 mm in length and 1,370 mm in height and is offered as a two-seater. The semi-panel van gets five seats, while cargo space measures in at 1,110 mm long and 1,250 mm in width. Both have a wheelbase of 2,560 mm, while the panel van weighs 1,100 kg and the semi-panel model at 1,115 kg (kerb weight).
Elsewhere, the van and pick-up models have a Macpherson independent front suspension and a leaf spring dependent rear suspension. Both also utilise front disc brake and a rear drum brake (with vacuum booster).
Standard items that can be found on the Era Star II vans include a black bumper, a silver front grille, front foglights, body-coloured side mirrors, high-mounted brake light and rear combination lights. Inside, it gets power front windows, air-conditioning, two speakers, a radio system with AUX port, reading lights (front), an electronic instrument cluster and many more standard features.
Said items can also be found in the pick-up variants. With that said, other features that the pick-ups have to offer include a spare tyre, heater, cargo box foot plate (side and rear), cargo box hook, portal frame, PVC carpets, steering lock and more.
Both the Era Star II van and pick-up vehicles are powered by a Euro 4-compliant 1.2 litre four-cylinder MPI petrol engine that makes 96 hp and 120 Nm of torque, mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Both have a fuel tank capacity of 40 litres, while claimed fuel consumption is rated at 6.5 litres per 100 km.
Prices for the Chana Era Star II van starts at RM49,142.81 for the panel van and RM50,801.71 for the semi-panel variant. The Era Star II pick-up starts from RM53,407.96 (wooden body) up to RM58,890.81 for the mobile cafe. All prices quoted are on the road with insurance and inclusive of GST. All models come with a three-year/60,000 km (whichever comes first) warranty.

correct me if i am wrong, where’s the black bumper of the vans ah? all i can see the one with black bumper is the single cab pick-up o.
