An unnamed industry source says that Proton may buy up DRB-Hicom’s 29.3% stake in car distributor Edaran Otomobil Nasional Bhd (EON).
The source said Proton may start with buying up DRB-Hicom shares, then proceed to buy up other stake held by government through the EPF and Khazanah Nasional which owns 12% and 6.2% respectively.
The plan is to eventually combine Proton Edar and EON.

Hahaha , when I was a kid (3-4 yrs old) I used to live in PJ near the EON showroom there. And my dream was to become the CEO of EON when I grow up. Mainly because my dad drives a Proton Saga at that time and I loved that car.
Probably also because I always thought that EON is Proton.
EON merging with Proton makes sense , doesn’t it?

Well, ALL companies in Mlaysia, P1, PP2, P3 and P4? Eon Drb whatever, should all be just 1 car company, Px. Like Fiat Italy, Sweden or even Volkswagon. (ok we are not Germany or Sweden) but more like Semenanjung Italy. We are too small a country a country many car makers LOCAL or NATIONAL in this country. Plus we have to protect them some more..
SO we have ONE company to supply, make and sell cars, and perhaps ONE or TWO other companies import cars. These shoudn’ be GLCs, they should be completely private therefore highly competitive. If we are good, the supplier of Px should also supply to the international market.. like India supplying to the US, now that Delphi is going bankcrupt!!
Yes, we want Proton hybrid!! we want it now..
