2006 Hyundai Accent

I previously blogged about the Hyundai Accent SR, which was to be a 3-door turbocharged hot hatch. What’s likely to come to Malaysia though is the sedan version of the Hyundai Accent which is what I’m blogging about now.

This Accent has different headlamps than the ones on the previous Hyundai Accent SR concepts which we saw.

The previous Accent didn’t have much identity of it’s own. It looked like a Scion tC half-cut. That is, the coupe cut into half made into a hatchback, heheh. The new Hyundai Accent sedan still has the Toyota-ish grille but has different rounder lights. Doesn’t look too bad.

The interior looks exactly like the Kia Rio’s. Of course, they’re the same platform after all. Let’s hope Hyundai will bring this one in to replace the Accent next year. It’s beginning to look dated.

KUALA LUMPUR: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has unveiled correspondence showing he did not approve the national car status for the Naza Kia Carnival model.

“national car status”,..? this was Tun Dr Mahathir mistake in the first place, to have “national car”….. if proton was not born, we will have had Honda City at probably RM40K now.!

and tm ni pun satu. biarlah nazi have national status car. at least the car they produce hv lower price. and we the rakyat save RM sikit (untung la) even if nazi untung lagi besau. of course G will collect less tax, so?

just imagine.. if the nazi206 pun dpt the same status.. kan syok? more affordable good (the real 206 lah.. judgement on nazi206 quality kita tengok lah macamana) car to the masses.

I have to agree with some of the sentiments. The Accent is boring. I’d rate a Gen.2 way higher in terms of styling anytime over the this average offering from Hyundai. If there is one problem Hyundai faces with its slew of products, is design.

Inject in some flair and excitement. That’s a good start. Design cues from the Hyundai Coupe perhaps? At least they got that right. At least it’s desirable.

but dont forget that it is designed as a cheap car back then in Korea, not as premium car like waja… imagine if the tax/taarif is not counted… this car will definitely outsell all wira and iswara anytime!!!

Not much difference from the current one. Purely cosmetic changes again. The new Kia Rio looks a tad like Toyota Vios, doesn’t it?

The design is so lame and boring. Does not look like a 2006 design at all. More like those late 80’s. The headlights’ yellow tint gave an illusion of “cross-eyes” to the car. Looks do-doish…., if RM40k+, can compete a bit, I think.
