Ford: Only Fords in our car park please

Ford Motor Co just announced that from February 1st 2006 onwards, there will be no vehicles from makes other than those built by Ford or one of it’s subsidiaries allowed in it’s Ford Dearborn Tuck Plant in Michigan.

It’s not a company-wide policy, but only native to the Michigan plant. Opinions are split on the decision. On one hand, some hard-core corporate-patriotic employees are of the opinion that everyone’s in it together to turn Ford’s North American division profitable by 2008, and they should buy the products they make and support the company. On the other hand, some think Fords do not give you the best bang for your buck and since it’s a free country the employees should be free to drive whatever make they want.

Are Perodua vehicles or other makes allowed in the Proton headquarters parking lots?

but i saw a lot of Perdana at Proton car park.
but Proton is not a full automaker, they only produced sedan, mini car.

but Ford is a full automaker, whatever segment of vehicle they have.
so,it’s ok for Ford to do that. but Ford cannot force people laa, no principle!

Perodua and Proton allows their employee to use any make/model when they drive to work…

at least it is what I see at their HQ and plant…

But actually it is a good idea…. since Proton and Perodua is NATIONAL car maker…

I’ve heard that UMW-Toyota assembly plant in Shah Alam has designated parkings for employees driving ANY Toyotas.. including old grandfather models..

However, wouldn’t be a profiling attempt? We live in a free world afterall..

Its a free world no doubt…

But let say if you are the owner of Intel, would you allow your employee use AMD in the workplace?

As for any changes, it always take time to adjust….

there are even members of the govt who dont buy national cars.

its a free world, but i think this is more about loyalty. if you work in so and so company, you should believe in your own product and company, and use it. if the employees themselves dont believe in using the product, they probably will do an injustice to the product and the company. just my opinion anyways.

it is not a matter of loyalty, but freedom of choice. As a so-called “democaracy superpower” the americans seem to be rather ….. childish…
