Barabus 1005 hp supercar

barabus1000.jpg

Barabus Sports Cars Ltd is displaying it’s 1005 horsepower sports car at the British Motor Show. While the company name seems to look like a strange typo of the Mercedes tuner Brabus, it’s car looks nothing like a Mercedes Benz. Barabus says this 1005 horses car is powered by a 6.0 liter V8 twin-turbocharged with dual intercoolers.

It doesn’t look too bad, but the front and rear somehow don’t match. And they really need to get rid of the silver coloured mesh grille and replace it with a black one or something.

first ! okay, the last time i seen a 1k horse power and sat in one was back in 2004 or 2003 when this yellow RX7 dump 3 turbo and crank it to 1000hp. The speed was incredibly fast and fulat ! that was back then when technology was on tuning cars was very very Gunghoish and it was rotary engine.

anyway, V8 1k HP and twin turbo, i am sure this is capable of airborne. but you’re right, the back looks like a cheapo self made maserati look alike. maybe curve it down a little…but then it would look like a self made FTO to look like dodge viper and a very jag back…..my two cents….i wonder am i still first to post after such along comment ?

I like the front and side views, but the back just plain sucks.

Never heard of Barabus before this, either, so I somehow doubt that this car will make it “big” in the supercar world.

Looks like a Protus… err… Lotus… from the front. The back just looks fugly. I wonder how this would compare with the 1K bhp veyron?

1005hp. walau. do they allow for test drive or is the supercar for display only ? . Do they really sell these car ? The front end looks ordinary while the rear has to be said a little ted ugly. A little configuration of the rear into viper wud be nicer. Anyway does the engine comes from merz ?

even if they do sell the car, but normally ppl will not be able to drive to the max performance of the car.
most of this super car ppl will be able to feel the torque at the 1st 3 gear. who will really go on full speed at the 6th gear, unless is in the game :)
btw, if u have such car, will u dare to play ur life on full speed?
hard to find that kind of long straight road…..
sure this car will be expensive.

    So whut??
    1005 hp…
to me, that doesn’t say anything much especially when the car looks like a cheap tune up from some other cars. I have to say the front looks like a car from the Burnout Revenge game while the back looks like a cheap copy from Pagani Zonda. The engine bay isn’t pleasing and the whole car looks plasticky.
tsk tsk tsk… Some tuning job done by some some boy racers, perhaps?

    =P

The mesh grilles looks like something the Ah Bengs would like! The rear is little bit weird, but the front looks kinda nice

Actually Paul, its a 7.0L V8 engine. Barabus claimed it does 0-60 mph in 1.6 sec and top speed of 270 mph, exceeding Bugatti Veyron’s 252 mph world record. They also said that the car is very fast, but challenging to drive (da!!!)..

Barabus? Berambus? well… the front looks nice… rear not fit the front design too much… ugly butt…

Speaking of the Veyron, when Top Gear reviewed it, Jeremy said that it costs VW 5 million GBP to make each Veyron (it sells for a few hundred thousand). Take that figure with a grain of salt, seeing as Top Gear is more entertainment than factual, but the fact is that VW made the Veyron as an engineering exercise, not a money-maker.

So Barabus. A quick google search reveals … nothing. I can’t find any mention of this manufacturer other than this 1000hp 270mph’er. Hard to imagine that the company will make any money on this car, so hopefully the owner has a VERY fat wallet.

Actually no, this car is ugly as hell and I hope it goes bust.

The rear is just horrible. Looks like a Zonda wannabe.. :)

  23. mystvearn said,

Ugly, and I don’t think it will be as fast/reliable as the Veyron. The name is used as a marketing strategy? Pensonic>Panasonic.

Agree with Isamu.. rear looks like a zonda especially the exhaust part.. but this 1 just looks awful..

Its just a fancy small block chevy engine. One ad says coil over spark plug type. And the pic shows a distributor with plug wires. A small block chevy can do a thousand horses, but would not last long. And if its just rear wheel drive, No street tire could give that much traction. So if its too good to be true, it probably is not, sorry. Sure would like to see some outside crew test it!!!!

[...] Although it isn’t clear who provided the original engine, the all-aluminum, twin-turbo V8 drivetrain has been extensively re-engineered by Barabus, including a unique Electromesh control computer (read: engine management system) and bell housings. The engine itself will be built in the UK, but TKRs will be assembled in Italy.In-the-flesh photos available here. [...]
