Scion xD: 5-door urban subcompact

Tbe Scion xD is the latest addition to Toyota’s Scion marque in the US, aimed at the younger crowd. The Scion xD replaces the Scion xA in the Scion line-up, and just like it’s namesake looks like a little happy smiley, it’s looks are sure to make you smile. The Scion xD is based on the same platform as the Toyota Yaris, but looks alot less like an oddly shaped bubble with wheels, taking on more boxy lines instead, which seems to suit the small car better.
Powering the Scion xD is the same new generation Dual VVT-i 1.8 liter that’s also in the Toyota Yaris TS for the UK market. The 128 horsepower engine is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed auto. A single spec will be offered, with the only customisable options to be the gearbox as well as stability control.

I don’t like the ‘front nose’. looks ugly from the front, but side and rear is OK. Is it just me, or anyone, who thinks that the interior looks quite similiar to Myvi/Sirion. The side profile (front & rear wheel arches) has some resemblance with Myvi/Sirion too, probably Scion mixed Sirion’s platform together also?. I hope Perodua can rebadge this car (cut of the nose & redesign sportier grille).. looks more tougher. The current myvi looks like a katak puru, especially the green colored ones.

Looks like a wider and longer version of the Myvi

Won’t be surprise if this is based on the Sirion platform. Imagine a 1.8L in a Myvi? Thats a pocket rocket!!

japs try to fit in the u.s. culture where there are dodge, and jeep,
…that why it looks such

the feature seems to be like the myvi especially on the rear seat… so does the dashoboard feel… only its kinda “bigger” compared to a myvi…

Looks like a boxed out Myvi. The roof looks low but comparison with the seat proves that it’s an optical illusion on the side windows part. Very nice but the Yaris is sexier.

Agree with u guys. It looks like a child from Myvi & Yaris.

i think some of our myvi owners forum-mates r goin to mod their car into this.
boxy, rugged n compact.
sure malaysia boleh one…….!

Is that all the power from Toyota dual vvt-i 1.8 engine can produce? C’mon, i mean 128 hp is more like 1.6 engine can produce. Or is it Toyota purposely tune the engine for fuel economy in mind? i guess the engine is more than capable to produce 150 or more hp even without the used of force induction. What do you think?

Scion xA is too small for US road, no wonder they replace xA with this new model.
March 3, 2007 @ 10:10 am
bigger than yaris! a bit more space(interior) than yaris!
maybe its follwing Scion family shape…. quite box…
but the looks, ugly!

the dashboard main architecture looks suspiciously similar to the myvi. wonder if this car also shares the same platform and if the engine’ll fit into the myvi. yup, they probably tuned it for economy in mind but getting the 1.8 to hv more hp is easy these days.
