2008 Subaru Impreza STi compared to S-GT

impreza_comparison.jpg

CARTOP Magazine carries this illustration of the upcoming 2008 Subaru Impreza STi (the top yellow car), a more powerful version of the recently announced Impreza S-GT in Japan, the equivalent of the vanilla WRX in current S204 Impreza terms.

The bumper design has it’s wide air intakes split into three instead of having one wide one in the middle, and the fog lamps have gone missing, presumably to save some weight. Fenders are wider too probably to make way for a wider track.

The 2008 Subaru Impreza STi will be revealed to the world in flesh at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show this October.

It ain’t a Subaru. Believe me, it’s a facelift for old Kia Rio.

Really nice and can’t wait for it. I’m sure it will compete with Mitsubishi’s Evo X.

    Cheers all.

Looks like an everyday hatch, with ah-beng’s touch..

Still find the previous (pre & post-bugeye) better looking. This one is trying to hard to looks good. In looks department, Evo X wins.

There is more to the car than looks. It could be a really good car to drive.

    2 important things to note
    – the NA engine Impreza gets a useful power increase to 103KW from 92kW. The previous generation models were a bit underpowered. 92kW to haul a 1320kg+ car around is asking a bit.
    – they have got rid of the SportsWagon “hatch” and replaced it with a Euro-style hatch. I like the wagon-like hatch as it was a very useful car to move things in. I guess Subaru is trying to move people who want a small wagon onto the Forester.

Am I the only one who likes the bug-eyed model? I have one in the form of the RV hatch and I think it looks better than the model that replaced it. IMHO only the current model Impreza with the koala-nose grill looks as good.

problem with some japanese designer they are to much on details, too much time spent n designing grille, too much time spent dash board, making thing much too elaborate,

forgetting designing the basic shape of whole car is which capable of a great impact visually,

the evo 10 for example they concentrate on how the whole shape look like,
    that what makes it different

The forever hideous Subaru. There’s really no point discussing which Subaru is better looking. But, hey, beauty comes from within right eh?
