Petronas is currently running yet another of their generous contests where you could stand to win up to 100,000 ringgit in cold hard cash. Entering is quite easy, all you need to do is spend RM30 minimum at your Petronas pumps or at the Kedai Mesra convenience shop in a single receipt. Then answer two questions with rather obvious answers, fill up your details and you’re done.
There are 10 grand prizes – 5 prizes of RM100,000 cash each and 5 prizes of RM10,000 cash each. Each of the 10 grand prize winners will also get 1 million Mesra points so you can exchange those for Petronas fuel vouchers or one of the various items that you can redeem with the points.
For Petronas Mesra card holders, there are an additional 1010 weekly prizes that you can win. 5 weekly prize winners will get 10,000 ringgit cash and 100,000 Mesra points, another 5 will get RM1,000 and 10,000 Mesra points, while the remaining 1,000 winners get RM100 each and 1,000 Mesra points. If you want to find out more about Kad Mesra check this link.
The contest begins from the 29th of January 2010 to the 28th of March 2010, so you still have about a month to go. You can actually print out one copy of the form from the download link above, fill it up and photostat them, as photostated copies of the form are allowed. Then all you need to do is staple a copy of your receipt each time you visit your neighborhood Petronas and submit the entry!
hey petronas, 4 for years filled using ur gas..do i have a chance now;)
Ahh bullshit la this one.
The money is always going to go to their cousin/brothers working at PETRONAS.
I even once filled up petrol at PETRONAS, and the pump attendant was busy swiping her OWN MESRA CARD at the counter
this is quite similar the the contest that just ended at shell. i went to fill up at shell for the whole 2 month duration shell had this contest as well.
petrol companies compete = consumer win
lets go buy petronas
If Petronas, Shell and other companies were really sincere in giving prizes away, might as well give a 1sen discount accross all their petrol range for one day. That would really help. Might not sound a lot but 1 sen for one malaysia is more than 2mil or if that is too much, make it state by state.
I thought i posted something, or maybe this autopage loade addon for firefox is goofing up…
Er, you actually posted it in the Nissan Navara facelift story. I've just helped you 'move' it back here.
Anyway, petrol price is a govt controlled item, they're not allowed to discount, unlike in Singapore.
As a Petronas loyal customer, business just like usual. This time I just got a chance to win something (won RM400 though in previous Petronas contest).
Petronas has a blatant discriminatory policy against my kind, thus I have stop patronising them.
I’d rather spend my hard earn cash on companies that are less discriminatory. (let’s be honest here, which petroleum companies in M’sia does not discriminate according to the national policy but Petronas is akin to the head of the KKK).

Well from what I've heard, you've gotta be really, really lucky to win it. Millions of forms are sent, most end up in a container for disposal.

Not sure about Shell, as I have not used it for years. With the new Petronas loyalty card (the new Mesra card whose distribution started several months ago), I think each liter pumped gives one point, which is equivalent to one cent. That one cent can be used to buy almost anything from a station, probably including petrol. Just that one needs to go to the counter first, saying that one wants to do point redemption before pumping petrol. This means if one pumps 100 liters of petrol in one month, the person will have 100 points. The following month, he/she can effectively get a one-cent discount for every liter of petrol.
Have just checked the website of the Petronas loyalty program. Looks like points can be redeemed directly at a pump, without going to the counter:

That's the dumbest statement I've ever heard! And yet I'm sure you'll be the first to demand money from Petronas!
Last time i already tried to redeem via the pump station..and guess what?i managed to fill up full tank of my car without paying a single cent..that is worth of rm75….

thanks for the link. it gave me hope and despair at the same time lol. oh well, i too lost count of the number of forms i've contested. good luck to all of us…
I can't vouch for Petronas' contest – but I know Shell's contest fully legit. I've known my friends who won before – the small prizes lah. Plus they engage auditors to ensure no hanky panky during selection process. For Shell you can also redeem petrol vouchers through BonusLink.
I can assure you that PETRONAS' contest is fully legit and audited by one of the Big Four accounting companies. No family members are involved in winning the prizes because Petronas staffs have their own contest (which the biggest prize is merely an iPod). It's real people from the public winning real cash, and some got nice sports cars too.
Just because you don't win any doesn't mean that it's a scam. :)

=============================================
I respect your 1st opinion. That's your right but the 2nd is rather presumptuous. I do not demand money from anyone. You see, there are still a few honest people here who dont expect handouts, earn an honest day's wage, pay income tax & generally, just trying to "cari makan halal."
Perhaps you would like to investigate further into the dealings of Petronas. How they exclusively hires only a certain "superior" race or how they will only have business dealings with companies owned by a certain "superior" race or how petrol station dealerships are exclusively reserved for a certain "superior" race …. (note: other "non superior" races only only hired for menial manual labour)
This country belongs to ALL of us. We all have a stake in it. We are all shareholders. A country's natural resources does not belong to only one "superior" race but to ALL Malaysians.
I earn an honest living & choose to spend the way I like. Thus I choose to support businesses that are NOT blatantly discriminatory to my kind. I too am Malaysian but to be treated as a pariah just because of my skin colour & religion, frankly is going too far.
