Here’s a new batch of photos of the new Volkswagen Beetle. Our previous story detailing what the latest generation of Beetle is all about featured a new Volkswagen Beetle with a DSG gear lever seen in the interior.

Now we have some shots of what seems to be a high performance version of the Volkswagen Beetle. You have the word “Turbo” seen on the rear much like a Porsche 911, and the interior features a manual transmission and a clutch pedal – this looks to be some kind of proper sporty high performance driver’s Beetle!

    do look like a porsche.
    but cmon, it has twin tail pipe just like the original beetle..
    but is it rear mounted engine just like the original beetle???
    really, REALY want it to be a rear mounted engine..

      A rear mounted engine will be too expensive to manufacture, I guess. They sell too few Beatles worldwide to design a new platform.

      Most likely they will use the VW Golf/Audi A3/Skoda Oktavia/Seat Leon platform for the Beetle.

      BTW: The Seat Leon Cupra is available with 286hp. The 2.0 TFSI “limited edition” has even 310hp and goes 259 km/h. This should be enough for a sporty Beatle? ;)

    A modern day Porsche 356? Now that is an tempting thought. Make a speedster version and even the Boxster will have a fight on its hand. Now if VW will only make it a RWD or at least a 4WD.
