James Bond – A name from espionage’s fictional world that is instantly recognisable by many, from all walks of life. Also codenamed 007, it is a fictional character created by Ian Flemming in 1953 which was first featured in novels.
The name of the British spy was then adapted to the silver screens in 1962, under the title of Dr No and was first played by Sean Connery. Film adaptations of the character continued on along with many actors including Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and tomorrow, the 23rd instalment titled SKYFALL, played by Daniel Craig will be released in our local cinemas.
It has become the longest continually running and the second highest grossing film franchise to date, setting a very high benchmark. As you would know, James Bond is also synonymous with many things, especially women and cars.
Many cars have been featured in the series including the Aston Martin DB5 which is considered as the most famous Bond car. Tricked out with features that would help a spy do his job, Bond cars are considered as an important part of each film.
Other notable cars include the Lotus Esprit S1 in the Spy Who Loved Me, the Alfa Romeo 159 in Quantum of Solace, the Audi 200 Quattro in The Living Daylights, the BMW Z8 in The World Is Not Enough and so on. Japanese makes also made their mark including Toyota with the beautiful 2000GT in You Only Live Twice. These are just part of countless cars that were featured in the Bond series.
In SKYFALL, a number of cars were featured including an Audi A5, a Range Rover as well as some Land Rovers. There is also a Jaguar XJ but the highlight is of course the return of the Aston Martin DB5, the car that has become an integral part of James Bond’s character.
Well we wont reveal much, you would have to check the movie out yourself :) For those who missed our SKYFALL contest which gave away pre-screening passes to the flick, be sure to catch it this weekend. Deep, way deep in James Bond’s R.E.M stage slumber,
he dreams of driving a DeLorean DMC-12 borrowed from
Marty McFly.

Second pic. Pussy Galore. What a name!
Top gear UK is showing a special show to celebrate 50 years of bond cars.
“Other notable cars include the Lotus Esprit S1 in the Spy Who Loved Me, the Alfa Romeo 156 in Quantum of Solace…”
Harvinder, it’s the Alfa Romeo 159, not 156.

Thanks for pointing it out :)
Bond should try Myvi lor. I am not joking, light small car with 1.5 extreme powerful engine can squash Ashton Martin DB5 at any time. On ground testing can hit 7.5 sec while DB5 only 8 sec. Before you dislike, goggle this old DB5 first…. using carb ma… Not good + kuat minyak + 4 GEAR ONLY. Then you all will agree.
plus very suitable in spying job because bad guys cant differentiate which myvi he’s in. I mean in klang valley road that is.
