Citroen DS5 Hybrid4 sighted at JPJ Putrajaya

citroen-ds5-hybrid-jpj-0013

The Citroen DS5 Hybrid4 has been spotted at JPJ Putrajaya by our regular contributor Anol Alias, the second PSA Group hybrid car to have been sighted there. The first was of course the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4, and Anol previously spotted that one as well back in March 2013.

As if a DS5 isn’t already special enough thanks to its space-age looks, this one will come with an interesting hybrid powertrain – the same as that found in the 3008 Hybrid4. A 163 hp 2.0 litre HDi diesel engine powering the front axle is mated to a 37 hp electric motor on the rear axle to give the Citroen DS5 Hybrid4 a total of 200 hp of all-wheel drive propulsion. Max combined torque is a strong 500 Nm, with 40% of that number contributed by the electric motor – this should be a blast to drive.

Like the 3008 Hybrid4, there are four driving modes which also include a rear-wheel drive electric-only emissions-free ‘ZEV’ mode. The mode that you’ll be using most of the time is Auto, which lets the system decide what configuration to run the hybrid system in. The other two modes are 4WD, which ensures both axles are working for extra traction, and Sport which maximises gear shift speed and throttle response.

We’ve yet to see the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4 launched yet, so it might be some time to go before the DS5 Hybrid4 is launched in Malaysia.

Since this is a hybrid and its 2.0 litre, will be cheaper(tax free) than the current DS5?

I know cars like the Camry, 3 series, Audi A4 etc. have better RV. but those cars doesn’t make you and people around go ‘wow’. But really, do yo u want to follow the crowd, or you want to drive something thats completely different. Dare to be different once in awhile. Citroen did and for that reason i salute them. sorry for the long post.

The price is sure more than 150k. You can get 2 exoras and can fetch much more people than this.

comparing 2 exoras with this car, you are one awesome guy lar….might as well compare 2 low end pick up trucks with the 2 exoras and can ferry more ppl!!!

    • why not you compare how many Proton Saga FLX to Citroen DS5? How many Saga you can buy?

Oh so you guys don’t see the logic, eh? It’s because it’s built on PF2 platform, like the 3008 and its wide enough to carry more people but it’s not which is a Waste. Comparing every car with bicycle is totally ridiculous. If like that why not you compare it with two feets, you don’t have to buy anything and it’s Free, LOL

By that logic you should drive a Rusa. Very small outside, huge inside. 7 people can sit inside with a ton of room to spare. Legroom in the 3rd row is good.

The DS5 is more of a luxury vehicle. They chose to give the passengers more space, so that’s fine.

i think you should compare DS5 hybrid4 with a fleet of bicycles. now u can move more than 150 people with that money.

This one is not for ferrying people. Not practical. The right direct rival exora is 5008 which is still crampier at the 3rd row than an roomy exora. Engine wise of course 5008 is more powerful but hey, exora turbo sprint is at least on par with with smaller cabined wish 2.0l dual vvt-i. That’s good enough for 1.6l single turbo charged engine.

      • Flrwk- exora is never a direct rival to 5008- the latter have more class and everything else

    • Hybrid- if that’s your viewpoint why not get 10 used proton wira and carry more people. I expect people in this forum to use their brain a bit more and engage in intellectual discourse.

  • wow definitely the prettiest car of 2013. that plus a hybrid diesel engine you should be able to see 1500km for a full tank. The price shouldnt be too bad too if it is a hybrid.

  • its 3008 Hybrid4
Imho, the 3008 has better practicality and cheaper than DS5..
there are more headroom at the back seat for 3008 and adults will be rubbing their heads at the back seat in DS5..
PSA position Citroen to be more premium than Peugeot, thus price tag wont b cheap..

    • Tsi- people don’t buy cars for practical reasons alone- have you sat in the back seat of ds5 ? If no then you’re not qualified to pass judgement

Not global enough if the service centres suck and spare pars are nowhere to find

      • Burrell- that’s not the point. The fact is Citroen is a global car but Proton is not. Service centres are not link to the above issue.

this isnt exactly a really new car but its looks are…wow…only thing that grabbed as much attention was the renault vel satis and avantime a decade ago. difference though i won’t feel slightly embarassed in the citroen unlike those renaults.

If its there for sale (and not for peugeot/citroen internal use), price-wise, surely could be much much cheaper than both petrol DS5 currently on offered by NEM.

    DS5… What a beauty!

  • I notice the car use 17″ rims- is that a sign the specs are lower (price too) than the current petrol model ? Mark my words….

  • I am planning to purchase the DS5. have test drive it. everything is just fine for me and my wife. but we felt a bit bumpy at rear seat. i believe it is due to the rear flexible transverse beam suspension. can anybody enlighten me what is the different between flexible transverse beam (stated in the catalogue) vs multi link suspension which is quite commonly used. pls update me whether citroen is going to improve the DS5 rear suspension to a better one before we conclude our purchase. thank you.

    • Syng -The thp 155 model sold by Naza uses transverse beam suspension (torsion beam) but the hybrid uses the more complex multi link suspension. Not true to say the complex version is always beter than the simpler one. the old Citroen Zx used torsion beam rear suspension, but the tuning was good, as a result the handling was marvellous.Go test drive it mate!

      • tks bro! i have test drive the DS5.. what i can say is the handling was really awesome! strait road, hump, roundabout, cornering, brake… the feel was great!
I have read a lot of reviewers’ write up actually gives quite negative comments about the handling of DS5 which was due to the rear torsion beam suspension. but after the test drive, the comments are inaccurates.
Finally I have confirmed my booking! Once again tks bro!

        • Pleasure bro- I have tested it myself and the comments about the handling were inaccurate. I am jealous of you mate! Did you know the first buyer of the DS5 was a Ferrari owner? Guess he appreciates and knows a good quality product when he sees one!

There are only 3 units of DS5 Hybrid 4 in Malaysia and the saddest thing is these 3 units are imported for the ownership of top Naza management, not for sale to the public. And the DS4 Manual is now at RM175k instead of RM160k with the ugly 18″ rims. No more 19″ Cairns offered by Brookland Motors initially.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0
    • I understand the units are also for r&d…maybe if the hybrid model can run with our low quality Euro 2 diesel, then it’s proper to be sold to the public. I guess one can always upgrade the rims to 19″ but the 18″ ones offer better comfort on our Malaysan roads…although the Cairns are gorgeous!
