Continental Tyre Malaysia announces tyre safety check campaign – from June 9 to July 4 at Tesco Extra stores

Before you make that trip back to your hometown this Hari Raya festive season, it is important to ensure that your tyres are in good working condition. Continental Tyre Malaysia (CTM) has announced its tyre safety check campaign, which will be held from June 9 to July 4, 2016 at four Tesco Extra stores in Peninsular Malaysia.

The tyre safety check campaign is to educate motorists on the importance of proper tyre maintenance in ensuring road safety while on the road during this festive season. “We believe that having taken this step of organising the tyre safety check campaign is doing our part in creating awareness in road safety and making a difference,” said Cameron Wilson, managing director of CTM.

“It is vital that road users continue to be educated that correct tyre inflation pressure and sufficient tread depth are essential to ensure safe motoring. Without these measures, emergency stopping distances can be much longer, which means more accidents at higher impact speeds. So clearly, correct tyre inflation, sufficient tread depth as well as choosing quality tyres can make the difference between life and death,” he added.

The campaign has already started, with the first stop recently concluded at Tesco Extra Alma, Bukit Mertajam a few days ago. The next stop will be at Tesco Extra Mutiara Damansara from June 16 to 19, followed by Tesco Extra Tebrau (June 23 to 26) and the final stop is scheduled to take place at Tesco Extra Bandar Bukit Puchong (June 30 to July 3).

At each of the tyre safety checks, which will run from 10am to 10pm, booklets featuring tyre maintenance tips along with Continental premiums will be distributed to the public. As Continental is also an official sponsor of UEFA Euro 2016, CTM will also organise its UEFA Euro 2016 roadshow at the above-mentioned locations where shoppers can participate in activities to stand a chance at winning limited edition UEFA Euro 2016 merchandise.

Ain’t it the other way around? Tires shop won’t check your tires balancing or alignments . It’s more like you want to do it or not. If these guys would do it for free, then it’s a good deal.

On the other hand, you can get cheaper tires by scouting around Klang or Rawang.

Who care about tyre safety. I want to ‘kangkang’ my tyre. I want to put small tyre onto wide rim. I want to underinflate for more cormfortable ride. I have no time to check my tyre pressure. Worn out tyre no need to change maaa…still got rubber. No need for allignment, waste of money…still can drive.

I also want to put big tyre on my car without maintaining the overall diameter so that it looks cool. I dont care if my odometer read 100km/h when I actually speeding 150km/h.

    • Never heard of Simen before. Best local brand is Silverstone. Best tyres I used is Michelin XM2. Quite comfortable, grippy especially in wet, road noise is slightly higher than stock but I can live with that. Price is definitely higher but u get whatcha pay so its value for money

I use Michelin XM2 also, 16 in. Its outer walls are prone to swerving especially if you travel in an area with crosswinds. Can be dangerous if you are not careful. Yes agree, its great for wet road, but not good for cross winds or horizontal pressure on tyre. Also XM2 has softer compound, so you need to change tyre more often, as it wears out very fast. I think Continental has better external walls, stronger. I dont mean Sime Tyres, i mean actual Continental tyres. However, XM2 has smoother and quiter ride at normal roads.

        • Crosswind effects more noticeable on bigger cars. I din feel it affects my Gen2 when using NS to north. But I was using 195/60/R15s
