Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM), together with authorised dealer Hap Seng Star, launched the new Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned Centre by Hap Seng Star Kinrara today. The facility, which was completed with an investment of RM41.6 million, is Hap Seng Star’s second and largest facility (dealing in certified pre-owned Mercedes-Benz vehicles) after its Balakong outfit established in 2016.
“We are pleased to launch this first standalone Mercedes-Benz Certified Preowned Centre by Hap Seng Star. It not only represents an extension of the Mercedes-Benz brand, but also helps us further enhance our reach to a broader customer audience,” said Claus Weidner, president and CEO of MBM.
“As our dealer network grows with the launch of this Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned Centre, so too does our ambition to create new experiences for our customers. Our successful partnership with Hap Seng Star allows us to continue creating customer touchpoints and most importantly, bringing the Mercedes-Benz brand closer to our customers,” he added.
Featuring a built-up area of 46,210 square feet, the centre has a display area that can accomodate over 100 vehicles and is managed by 24 personnel. Apart from a showroom, there’s also a café, children’s playground and another display area dedicated to Mercedes-Benz lifestyle products.
“It gives us great pleasure to launch this standalone Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned centre in Malaysia. Here, in this dedicated facility, we are able to deliver to our customers the same driving experience as owners of a new Mercedes-Benz,” commented Harald Behrend, group COO of Hap Seng Consolidated and chief executive of Hap Seng Star.
Along with launch of the facility, MBM also announced that the Proven Exclusivity certified pre-owned programme would henceforth be known as Mercedes-Benz Certified instead. With the new programme, MBM is providing customers with a holistic approach when it comes to owning a pre-owned Mercedes-Benz vehicle in excellent condition at an attractive price.
According to the company, the vehicles under the Mercedes-Benz Certified programme are sourced from authorised MBM dealers, with the condition that they are not older than six years or exceed 125,000 km in mileage. Furthermore, these vehicles must not have identifiable structural damage and be fully serviced and maintained at authorised service centres using original parts.
Cars that meet these criteria will then need to undergo a thorough 215-point inspection by certified technicians, which covers a myriad of aspects, including engine components, body and chassis, electrical systems, as well as extensive road testing.
Only when a car passes the inspection, and have its genuine service and maintenance records checked and verified, will it receive the Mercedes-Benz Certified stamp of approval. From there, customers will be able to test drive any certified pre-owned Mercedes-Benz vehicle prior to purchasing their preferred one.
Those who do decide to take the leap and proceed with their purchase will have the option to trade-in their existing vehicle and/or take up the finance and insurance services offered. The latter includes the Young Star Agility/AgilityPlus Financing programme, allowing customers to secure end of agreement options and end-to-end solutions such as flexible financing, insurance solutions, service maintenance and extended limited warranty.
The programme also encompasses the post-purchase portion of the customer’s journey, with a 12-month/unlimited mileage warranty extension above the remaining manufacturer warranty attached to their selected vehicle. There’re also service contracts available along with 24-hour roadside assistance for all Mercedes-Benz Certified vehicle owners.
