Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has introduced Sound & Style Editions of the Golf, Passat and Tiguan, all of which are equipped with unique accessories.
First up, there’s the Golf R-Line Sound & Style Edition, which is priced at RM178,110 on-the-road without insurance. For the money, you’ll be getting RM4,000 worth of accessories, consisting of a 300-watt soundbar from German car audio specialist Helix, VW Tint window film and a ‘Sound & Style’ emblem.
The rest of the kit list is pretty much identical to a standard Golf 1.4 TSI R-Line, including the R-Line styling kit, dual-zone climate control, 8-inch Composition Media infotainment system, 17-inch ‘Singapore’ alloy wheels, as well as LED headlamps and taillights – the latter with dynamic indicators.
Also unchanged is the powertrain, which still consists of a 1.4 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque, which is mated to a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox that directs drive to the front wheels.
As for the Passat, there are Sound & Style Editions for both the Comfortline and Highline (pictured here), with the former being priced at RM189,619.20, and the latter at RM212,412.
Both versions share the same accessories, including the Helix soundbar, tinting, dedicated emblem, as well as aluminium sports pedals and side scuff plates. However, the Comfortline Sound & Style Edition gets 18-inch ‘Dartford’ alloy wheels, which replace the 17-inch ‘Istanbul’ set that comes with a standard Comfortline.
Meanwhile, the Highline Sound & Style Edition swaps out the Highline’s default 18-inch ‘Dartford’ wheels for a larger set of 19-inch ‘Verona’ alloy wheels instead. The value of these accessories for the Comfortline is RM12,000, and RM16,000 for the Highline.
Beyond the added items, both Passat Sound & Style Edition models feature the same level of equipment as the variants they are based on. The same is true of the powertrains, with the Comfortline packing a 1.8 litre TSI (180 PS and 250 Nm) and seven-speed DSG, while the Highline is powered by a 2.0 litre TSI (220 PS and 350 Nm) and six-speed DSG.
Lastly, there’s the Tiguan Sound and Style Edition for RM175,560, which comes with a chrome trunk garnish and exhaust tips, a rear spoiler finished in black, a dedicated emblem, tinting and the Helix soundbar.
Based on the Tiguan 1.4 TSI Highline, you’ll still get a 150 PS/250 Nm 1.4 litre TSI engine and six-speed wet-clutch DSG gearbox. Also standard are 18-inch ‘Kingston’ alloy wheels, triple-zone climate control, 8-inch Discover Media infotainment unit and Vienna leather upholstery.
All Volkswagen cars come with a five-year/unlimited mileage warranty, three-year/45,000 km free maintenance package and five years roadside assistance. The Sound & Style range is currently on display at the Volkswagen Tour happening at IOI City Mall, Putrajaya from May 14 till May 20, 10am to 10pm. Those who book any Volkswagen model at the event will receive an additional RM500 rebate on top of the free RM1,000 petrol card, as well as savings on selected models.

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Kena sell, “sound” here “sound” there.
We dont want these. We want driver assist features e.g. adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist.
VW is famous for component failure and frequent visit to workshop. Just fix this. No need fancy addition because if your price nearing Benz, you will have lots of rusty old stock again.
Best to include extra accessories inda car loan.
that sound bar in the boot doesn’t makes sense at all
VW basher in 3, 2, 1 …
Peugeot ranked highest in UK JD Power, with VW in 2nd place . So only plaudits, no basher …
Now after heavy duty discounts, can get Tiguan for RM130k. Proton X70 is RM123k
I rather add RM7k more and get a real German car
So you rather add 7k and keep your favourite tow truck driver number on speed dial? Suit yourself. Don’t take it to heart when many are laughing about your choice after you get stranded at roadside.
where is this man? i need to see this face to face…. like THORbaik!
that looks like a bad afterthought
Wow … 178k for a Golf 1.4. Definitely is for die hard fans only
VPCM made the biggest blunder in initially ignoring the complaints from owners. Until they had to resort to public protest in front of Siena Volkswagen in Bangsar. By the time they relented, it was too little too late. Brand reputation has been damage beyond repair.
Hence the situation today, weak sales, dealership closing (one in PJ Jln 222 closed, another in KL terminated dealership and changed to Proton), poor second hand resale, low consumer confidence.
First of all, VPCM came on board way after the blunder that was done by VGM. :)
Anyways, if you say they are bad… how about Renault, Ford, Peugeot or even Citroen in Malaysia? Brands that are in the same market as VW? What i see is they are completely behind. Citroens sells like 100 cars a year?
Ford only survives on Ranger, even that is declining. have you seen new Fiesta, Focus, Mondeo on the road?
What i see from Volkswagen is, they are improving day by day, unlike some brands who dont seem to care at all, because they are big and have huge market share.
Dealerships closed are common….I think Toyota is a huge failure then..they closed all their branches and sold to dealers…
Well Said!!!
Toyota is a huge failure itself. Nuff said.
VW fanboy detected. Comparing a failure to another failure is not a good example to show superiority la. VW sucks
Thought the sound system in the Tiguan was OK, just lacking some low end thump. Wouldnt it be better to just add a subwoofer in the spare tyre area, rather than an entire soundbar?
