VIDEO: B8 Volkswagen Passat 2.0 TSI walk-around

Launched just last week with prices starting from RM160k, we now have a detailed walk-around video of the Malaysian-spec B8 Volkswagen Passat. Do spare a short five minutes to find out all you need to know about this new entry to the D-segment sedan market.

The model in focus here is the range-topping Passat 2.0 TSI Highline, with its 220 PS, 350 Nm engine paired with a six-speed wet dual-clutch DSG – shared with the Mk7 Golf GTI. This one is priced at just under RM200k, but as you’ll see in the video above, it does offer a lot for the asking price.

Two 1.8 TSI models are also available – Trendline and Comfortline – both with a 180 PS, 250 Nm engine and a seven-speed dry dual-clutch DSG. There are quite a few differences between the three variants, most of which are detailed in our walk-around tour.

Do you see it as a viable alternative to the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry or even the Mercedes C-Class and BMW 3 Series? Sound off in the comments section below. For full specifications of the B8 Volkswagen Passat in Malaysia, check out CarBase.my. Do also read our full review of the model for more details.

Honda accord is a better buy. less headache and better resale value.

don’t have to worry each time if you will get stranded on the road or SC telling you no spare parts.

Also, free roller coaster ride after 150km/h, same interior and seat comfort as a 2003 Honda Accord, free dashboard rattling sound, free door panels rattling sound, free engine bay rattling sound, free road noise and wind noise, free ugly bent chrome bar at the back, free scenery on your rear-view mirror when getting tailgated by this Passat, and free view of the cosy Tanjung Malim scenery when this Passat already reached Perlis.

Owhh yeah, this Passat do not need to worry about the free exploding airbags each time you drive or SC telling you no airbag stock.

funny malaysian with their typical T&H

even when it kills people can ignore and like nothing happens, it’s not an issue as long as good resale value

Actually Passat is inferior in every aspect to the Camry Hybrid, finish and fitting, FC, comfort, power, RV, SC, price, class, reliability, design, parts, service, Passat all lose to Camry. And your best friend no need be tow truck lou. Also no need to boil blood with stupid SA, DSG, mecha.

Is one hell experience owning a VW, worst being the car got no future (no market value!!!). The extra price tag and the dreadful fall just buy yourself more problems and issues.

VW salesman don’t challenge me as current owner. Because the money we lost not yours.

Oh my..He is comparing Camry to a Passat. The Passat is a much more capable car than the Camry in all aspects including power, safety and technology advancement. I will vote for the Passat anytime. Just drive one and decide for yourself.

your Honda is not as solid as a Passat. The Passat is by all means superior to the accord in all aspects.

Why you want solid when car always stuck in workshop? You buy car to park in workshop or to drive?

The CKD VWs assembled here are reliable. What you hear are exaggerated and overly hyped stories which is now outdated. VW is even giving 5 years warranty.

    • Yes. Accord is best resales value ‘NOW’ and less headache to maintance.but Passat is better drive and better ride, and value for money in this price with those feature and performance. So any car has their good and bad.
Correction. Resale value is good for honda now, but if u not selling your accord now, u won’t know wat happen in next few years. Maybe Vw selling like hot cake next 2 years and thus bring up the resales value?

Just like Toyota last few years. Selling like hot cake and good resale value that time . But now vios second value is ways below city, Altis second value is below civic and Camry value is below accord.
Just my simple opinion. No offence.

Let’s don’t talk about CC. Which transmission is better for our country, dry or wet? Also i found the reverse camera hidden inside W logo… Might worry for period of time, the W logo jamming to open / close.

      • About 90k to a closed friend. With Only less than a month warranty left. It will be approx 100k if the car still got 7-8 months warranty. That car safe my life once in the accident. I still own a MK7 golf, changed mechatronic and clutch once while it was about 22k km, now closed to 50k km, so fast so good. I’ll go and test drive this passat, The engine arrangement looks different from the old 2.0 tsi, some modifications have done for better reliability I believe.
